BENCHMADE NEW PRODUCTS TO BE INTRODUCED SOON

The BM 750 PINNACLETM
The Model BM 750 was designed for pure performance with strength and simplicity- paramount. The scales are machined, 6AL-4V titanium and then tumbled to smooth all edges. The Mono-Lock system is incorporated into the right scale and provides solid performance. The linear machined Mono-Lock system provides more strength than many of the ongoing designs coming out of the custom knife industry today.

The blade style is a sizable 3.60" reverse-curve for added cutting ability. It's of ATS-34 steel, hardened to "Benchmade performance" standards. The thumb-stud is right or left interchangeable. A removable, stainless steel pocket-clip is secured on the right scale. Assembly, and pocket-clip screws are threaded into stainless steel inserts for maximum life. All blades on the initial production run will be ground in ComboEdge only with the option of a satin finish or Benchmade's proprietary BT2 coating.

We anticipate shipping to begin late Fall '98.

BM 140 ---NIMRAVUS

The sleek, Model BM140 signifies Benchmade's first fixed blade offering in several years. The Nimravus was styled by designer Allen Elishewitz to appeal to Benchmade customers who wanted a lot of the same features, materials and styling traditionally found with Benchmade folders except in a fixed blade format. As you can see it has a very good utility blade shape, and will perform equally well in a diverse selection of uses. Although not a geometric Tanto shape, this modern tip design is among the strongest configurations available today.

The 4.5" full-tang blade is ground from ATS-34 stainless steel and features a false edge that lightens the blade without sacrificing tip strength. Available in plain or ComboEdge with half serration for effortless cutting of rope or other fibrous materials. The blades are BT2TM coated which is a proprietary, Teflon® based polymer for superior, corrosion protection. The scales are machined of G-10, a nearly indestructible aerospace, glass fiber laminate. Additionally they have integrated a series of positive indexing notches in the spine for sure-grip blade control.

One of the most important features of any fixed blade should be the sheath, and this one is no exception. Constructed of Kydex®, the sheath is impervious to the elements. It features a clip that allows the knife to be positioned for right or left hand use. The sheath may also be carried inside, or outside, the waistband. The versatility of the knife and its sheath design allows for carry and use in nearly any application that warrants a tough, mid-sized fixed blade knife.

We expect to start shipping the Model BM140 Nimravus in late September '98.

The AXIS LOCK  BM710
The new , Model BM 710 was designed by custom knife makers Bill McHenry and Jason Williams and premiers Benchmade's patented AXISTM lock which was also designed by Bill and Jason. It looks simple enough, and it is, but it's the end result of a lot of hard work and perseverance by Bill and Jason, over the course of 4 years. The AXIS lock is totally ambidextrous and allows for easy one-handed opening and closing of the blade without your fingers ever being in the path of the blade. The design is very intuitive to operate with little or no instruction needed on how the lock functions.

As simple as the lock is, perhaps its biggest selling feature- is its brute strength. In testing, the lock supported a negative load of over 200 pounds without damage. When the lock does finally fail, the liners simply crack over the locking pin, but at no time in Benchmade's testing would the blade have closed on the users hand. The AXIS lock features two "Omega" shaped springs that provide outstanding functional redundancy. The springs are lightly stressed and our tests show they should last indefinitely. In the unlikely event that one of the springs does fail, the other will still operate the knife just fine.

Is this the strongest lock made? That's very difficult to say for certain. Benchmade claims that t's certainly more rugged than many of the typical lock-back and liner-locking knives. The sizable 3.90 " ATS-34 blade of the Model BM710 features a reverse-curve grind for increased cutting ability. The first production runs of this model will feature plain edge ground blades only, in a satin finish or BT2TM coated. The double liners are heat-treated 420 stainless steel as is the locking-bar. The scales are bead-blasted and then hard anodized 6061-T6 aluminum. There is a removable, stainless steel pocket-clip located on the butt end of the knife. This given clip location on the butt end is necessary due to the locking mechanism. If the clip were positioned on the pivot end, the knife would protrude much too far out of your pocket. We anticipate Benchmadewill start shipping the Model BM710 late Fall '98.
