Description
BH15RT00BK: Razorback-Trocar
BLACKHAWK!

Massad Ayoob’s versatile BLACKHAWK! Razorback fixed blade knife has been a mainstay of the MOD® knife line since its inception. Recently, we learned that it has become the knife of choice of many tactical medics, who have used it for everything from inserting chest tubes to performing amputations. Working with advisors from the International School of Tactical Medicine, we revised the Razorback to maximize its function as a medical tool, retain its personal defense capabilities, and make it more affordable to our troops in the field. The BLACKHAWK! Razorback-Trocar fixed blade knife features a Teflon®-coated AUS8A stainless steel blade with depth-index grooves and a scalpel-sharp tip. Its fiberglass-reinforced nylon handle has improved texturing for a more positive grip, and it comes equipped with a complete Total Concealed Carry Solution™ (TCCS™) sheath system that includes an injection-molded nylon sheath and complete mounting hardware to support more than 70 different carry positions.

For medical use? Really?
I have seen and played with one of these knives-it was on the belt of a young paramedic who proudly told me "you can use it for surgery!" Having been involved in emergency medicine for almost 20 years, I can only advise whoever buys this to not use it on a real patient. This thing is going to be riding around in your sheath, unsterilized! Even in Iraq we have sterile scalpels. I think this design was made for one thing, and that is to sell knives.

Nice concealable EDD (everyday defense) blade
I carry this knife every day, with a variety of attire -- from street casual to business casual -- mostly inside the waistband. It is very comfortable; neither the fit or weight interferes or distracts. I was curious as to why the sheath is so wide until I remembered that the piece was designed to work with Blackhawk's tactical holsters and other tactical gear. I almost wish there were a strip of Kraton on the finger side of the grip, but otherwise, this knife offers a comfortable grip in either a saber or reverse orientation. The blade terminates in an intimidating tanto tip which will have no problem piercing fabrics, leathers, or flesh. The edge wasn't shaving-sharp out of the box, but I'm not one to hold that against the blade or the manufacturer of any knife. After all, knife owners should be able to sharpen their blades, and not rely on factory sharpening and hope it lasts for a while. The blade locks solidly in its sheath, with no rattle. The carry options are the features that really convinced me to purchase the knife, as there are many. Though I feel this knife should be priced a little lower due to the materials used (if I pay over $50 for a blade, I expect a more organic handle material -- at least G10), I see no reason this piece couldn't fill its intended role in anyone's lifestyle.
