SCTACTFSCB: Standard Fairbairn-Sykes Commando Knife
Scorpion Knives
The Fairbairn-Sykes commando knife is a double-edged knife with a foil grip developed by William Ewart Fairbairn and Eric Anthony Sykes before World War II. It was made famous during the War when issued to British Commandos, including the SAS. Although the Fairbairn-Sykes knife is now of interest mainly to collectors, because of its sleek lines and its commando associations it still remains in production today.

This knife was designed exclusively for surprise attack and fighting. The slender blade can easily penetrate a ribcage and the vase handle grants precise grip. The double-edged blade is integral to its design.

The balance of a Fairbairn-Sykes is a crucial part of the design and it takes careful forging and production to ensure that the knife balances exactly as designed. The hilt should fit easily in the hand and the blade should not be so heavy that it tends to drag the hilt from the fingers in a loose grip.

During World War II, we were one of the original companies forging high quality Fairbairn-Sykes knives for use by the allied forces. Today, Scorpion Knives produces Fairbairn-Sykes knives mainly for enthusiasts. We continue to manufacture these with a precision that ensures you receive a perfectly balanced Fairbairn-Sykes commando knife worthy of adding to your collection.

This Fairbairn-Sykes knife has a 6-3/4" features a black blade and handle. Includes a high quality leather sheath packaged in a nice gift box.

Cons: Materials, Blade Sharpness, Sheath/Scabbard
A novelty item...
This is probably the best "Made in Sheffield" Fairbairn-Sykes in production but general quality is still very poor, especially considering it is made in England. Not hard to imagine why Sheffield blade industry faded into nothingness if this is the best they can do to re-make a legendary blade in the 21st century. Sharpness out of box is non-existence and the grind is uneven and very poorly done. Steel is 1075 high carbon at Rc51 (ridiculously soft for a supposed fighting knife) so edge holding is.... Sheath is also very poorly made with low quality material. The only good things are the price and superb balance offered by the hefty brass(?) handle; perfect for the fencing foil grip that is advocated for this blade. Overall, get it if you want a prop or just as a novelty item. Not recommended for anything else. If you want a truly functional F-S with perfect workmanship and premium steel, take a look at the new Extrema Ratio Commando...
