Spyderco’s collection of Value Folders, bears the name of admirable human characteristics. Our economical Persistence is smallest, the Tenacious is mid-sized, and the Resilience the largest. All meet and exceed our goal, of providing a level of cutting performance and construction at a price-point that makes you say “hmm”? The C142 combines the very best Spyderco features: a 4-way Clip, screw- together construction, phosphor bronze bushings, skeletonized steel liners, an enlarged opening hole, and spine and liner jimping with a flat-ground blade 8Cr13MoV blade. Feature-for-feature, dollar-for-dollar, performance-for-performance the Resilience adds one more must-have, best buy to the Spyderco line-up.
8Cr Stainless Steel
One of the most common budget stainless steels, it maintains a competitive combination of edge retention and toughness in its price range.
Pocket Clip
Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
G10 Handles
Formed in a sheet under high pressure by combining fiberglass and an epoxy resin binder. These handles are lightweight and shaped to ensure a solid grip.
EDC china made but very well made. I also have a slew of Earth made Spyderco knives. Always quality and always last with hard use. You will not be disappointed, BUY IT! Geat entry level Spyderco.
Pros: Blade Sharpness, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Handle Material, Lock Ease of Use, Lock Type, Overall Quality, Pocket Clip
Cons: Blade Material
My new favorite folder, Spyderco Resilience
Now dual carrying as EDC the 4.25" straight edge Resilience in 8Cr3MoV & G10 and the Ontario RAT1 in D2 for cutting packages, boxes, cord, rope and as save-the-day emergency prep. Like DCA, I have larger than average (LTA) hands, so this long handle and blade fit my needs and knife profile appeal. I didn't require a supersteel. Prefer the textured G10 over the less comfortable FRN scales and 2-hand closure of my Cara Cara 2 overly-stiff back lock. Would have spent the nearly double price for S35VN if that had G10 scales. I'm okay with black scales, since I will Dyemore my other knife scales.
Pros: Blade Sharpness, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Handle Material, Lock Ease of Use, Lock Type, Overall Quality, Weight
Cons: Blade Material, Pocket Clip
My EDC
This knife has been my EDC for over 1 year. I like the big blade, the thumb action is o.k, I'm more of a finger flipper, but I like the Spyderco brand. This is a somewhat big knife for pocket carry, over 5 ounces. The G10 handle's I like very much. The only con is the cheap steel for the blade, 8cr13mov, which to me means I have to sharpen it a little more often than a S35 type steel. None the less, Would recommend.
