Description
ZT0566: ZT0566 Hinderer & ZT Collaboration
Zero Tolerance Knives

A more compact version of the ZT0560.

Zero Tolerance Knives and Rick Hinderer team up again to create the new Zero Tolerance 0566. More compact than its larger brothers, the 0560 and 0561, the new 0566 is built for pure performance in an EDC-perfect size.

On the performance end, the blade is pure ELMAX powdered steel. With almost no impurities in the steel, the 0566’s blade can be sharpened to hair-popping levels—and also offers excellent
edge retention, strength, and toughness. For a secure grip, the front scale is textured G-10. The back is all stainless steel with a sturdy frame lock and lockbar stabilizer. The 0566 offers Zero Tolerance's quad-mounting system so users can choose tip-up/tip/down, left- or right-handed carry. And because it's a deep-carry clip, the knife will sit comfortably deep in the pocket.

For Rick Hinderer style in an easy-carry size, the new 0566 fits the bill.

Perfect
I love this knife. Fit, finish, and function of mine is flawless. It's a very sturdy and well designed knife. Frame locks are strong by nature, but they took it a step further and the thumb studs (which aren't really for opening) act as 2 additional blade stops. The grip is comfortable and secure. My only knife with ELMAX steel, but it has performed well. I had intended to de-assist it prior to purchase, but the assisted opening works great so I left it as is. Out of all my folders if I could only keep one, it would be this knife.

Pros: Blade Material, None
Cons: Lock Ease of Use, Ease of Opening
Have used this knife for several months know and it's the only ZT I've ever dumped for reasons already mentioned, flipper is very difficult to deploy blade and thumb stud just impossible. Beveled edge of of liner lock does not allow for a good purchase to disengaging the lock to close the blade is also quite difficult. Very disappointed in this one.

Solid Knife - try a few first
This is a perfect heavy duty EDC knife. You may see a lot of complaints about the weight of the knife but that is part of the design to make it "built like a tank." Make sure to get a few different 0566's in your hands before pulling the trigger if you can. I felt 4 of them up at a gun show and they were all fairly different. Mine can be easily deployed with the thumb stud and the lock is super easy to release. Sure it isn't a custom hinderer and will face classic production problem i.e. lemons/dull blades out of the box, but it will do the job without a doubt as a specific heavy duty EDC blade.
