Pros: Lock Ease of Use, Overall Quality
Cons: None
Quality Folding Knife
I've been carrying one of the Al Mar lockback folders for about thirty years, and consider the value to be outstanding. Fit and finish have been excellent on every knife, including the Falcon I recently purchased. All the surface junctions, such as where the lock bar meets the blade, and the handle scale to bolster joints are smooth and seemless. The Falcon is slim and light and rides very comfortably in the front pocket of sport slacks. It is the ideal size for everyday uses such as opening packages, or cutting up an apple. After having carried it for a week, there is the tiniest amount of play in the lockup. Not enough to see, just enough to feel. Slight niggle on the use of brass for the liners. They make for a very smooth blade pivot, but they tarnish and if you want a bright looking knife, you have to polish the liner edges almost daily. On a knife with this superb build quality, it would also be nice to see a premium blade steel such as VG-10 or at least 154CM. Still love the Al Mar bird of prey series lockbacks though. Excellent quality, excellent value.
