The original Crucible folding knife, designed by noted close-combat expert Kelly McCann, found immediate favor with armed professionals and remains in service worldwide. However, as a premium-quality knife, its price tag put it out of reach of many military and law enforcement personnel. In response to their requests, BLACKHAWK! manufactured the same exact design, making calculated changes to the blade steel and coating to make it more affordable. The result was the Crucible II. This high-performance folding knife features a stout, flush-ground liner-lock mechanism, textured G-10 handle slabs, and a distinctive handle shape that provides a superior grip and hand protection. Its broad spearpoint blade is ground from AUS 8A stainless steel and features a non-reflective black Teflon® coating. Excellent
For one of my self-defense classes I teach. Been carrying it now for several weeks. One thing that I really like from the start is the size of the handle along with the fact it is rock solid in your hand even under stress. If I had any bad thing to say is that the sound of it opening is louder than most folders but that is really poking for issues. If you are looking for an excellent folder for self defense you will not be sorry getting it. Also have the fix blade version too and love it too.

Feels Great!
I added another one of these to my collection (got a plain blade this time) and I really like this knife. Ergonomically speaking, it is the most comfortable and solid grip of any knife I own (and that's more than 140). The blade may not be the highest quality steel, but it works for me and becuase of the handle, it is one of my regular EDC's. As usual, I removed the pocket clip - rarely use these.
