Balanced and Smooth, but Built Like a Vault!
With any folder, the most important feature for me is the lock mechanism. Having used and tested the axis lock before, this qualification was met as it is one of the strongest lock mechanisms on the market. This knife purchase was mainly for the desire for a shorter blade length than the usual 3.25-4.0 I normally carry. The length of the 300S was what I was looking for and I chose the combo edge for its ability to handle heavy chores with the serrations while keeping the main edge sharp. I was looking for a flipper style blade for its easy and quickness to deploy. I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that the flipper design coupled with the weight and balance of the blade deployed lightning fast and smooth by use of the thumb stud and the flipper "paddle" acts as a very secure "guard" once opened. The ambidextrous lock studs allow for an extremely smooth almost "self-closing" blade; again due to perfect balance of the blade design. The G-10 grip panels along with the texturing allow for an extremely secure grip and purchase on the handles. I also like the deep pocket design of the clip which makes this knife not nearly as noticeable as other designs I have carried. This knife just feels like an extension of my hand but is built like a vault. A+.
