  • AXIS® A patented Benchmade exclusive, AXIS has been turning heads and winning fans ever since its introduction. A 100-percent ambidextrous design, AXIS gets its function from a small, hardened steel bar which rides forward and back in a slot machined into both steel liners. The bar extends to both sides of the knife, spanning the liners and positioned over the rear of the blade. It engages a ramped, tang portion of the knife blade when it is opened. Two omega style springs, one on each liner, give the locking bar it's inertia to engage the knife tang, and as a result the tang is wedged solidly between a sizable stop pin and the AXIS bar itself.

My 5th Benchmade
I'm delighted to add the Griptillian to my EDC collection of knives. This is my 5th Benchmade knife that I use for work, especially useful breaking down UPS shipments with ease. The hollow grown blade is unique to my other knives. The handle material and feel does take awhile to get to use to right out of the box. I wish the material was G10 scaleing instead. Overall, I would recommend the Griptillian to any EDC enthusiast black knife collector.

6th Benchmade
I've been hearing great things about the Griptillian series from Benchmade and finally made the decision to add it to my knife collection. The handle material is the only down side of this knife, it takes a bit getting use to out of the box. This is my first "Blue Class" Benchmade, adding to the other "Black Class" knifes in my collection. Overall, after a week of EDC with the Griptillian for use at work, the knife is pretty awesome.

Excellent Knife
Has smooth action, just flick it with your thumb. Very comfortable in my large hands. Sheephoof blade is good for chopping and preparing vegetables. Good balance. Took with me to Ecuadorian jungle, handled very well. Great for the price.
