Description
BM556BKOD: 556BKOD Drop Point Mini Griptilian
Benchmade Knives

The Griptilian is born of custom knife maker Mel Pardue's passion for functional designs. You release the creature's ferocity with a thumb stud. At the very heart of the Griptilian, is the exclusive AXIS locking mechanism. This modern marvel gives life to a cutting tool like you have never experienced before, especially in a lightweight folder. Rock-solid ambidextrous function is sure to tame the most die-hard of traditionalists. And you can grab onto the lightweight, injection molded handle with its grip-textured surface and rib covered spine that grabs you right back for a "can't let go" grip. The Griptilian also comes with a reversible carry-clip for right or left side carry.

  • AXIS® A patented Benchmade exclusive, AXIS has been turning heads and winning fans ever since its introduction. A 100-percent ambidextrous design, AXIS gets its function from a small, hardened steel bar which rides forward and back in a slot machined into both steel liners. The bar extends to both sides of the knife, spanning the liners and positioned over the rear of the blade. It engages a ramped, tang portion of the knife blade when it is opened. Two omega style springs, one on each liner, give the locking bar it’s inertia to engage the knife tang, and as a result the tang is wedged solidly between a sizable stop pin and the AXIS bar itself.

Exceptional EDC Kinfe
I bought this knife after I purchased a Spyderco Native 5 FRN. I orignally intended to buy the Mini Griptillian based on the numerous positive reviews, but somehow got side tracked on the Native 5 and wound up purchasing that first. I love that Spyderco and carried it every day, until I finally bought the Mini Grip. The Mini Grip is slightly smaller in the handle and doesn't feel quite as comfortable in your hand, but the blade is the same length as the Native, but it's also not as tall/wide as the Native (lower profile). I found that the Mini Grip is also much smoother in operation and the Axis lock is much easier to operate than the back lock design of the Native 5. I also like the black blade on the Mini Grip. While I think both knives are great quality, I find that I reach for the Mini over the Native on an every day basis. In fact, I intend to purchase another Mini with the Tanto blade, because I like this one so much.

2 years
I've had this knife for 2 years and carried it almost everyday. I have no complaints, perfect size, perfect blade shape, and perfect lock mechanism. The axis lock is awesome, great strength, and ease of use. Don't think you could find a better pocket knife for the money. 154cm steel keeps a great edge and won't rust on you. I have put my knife through the paces and it has held up great, still works great like the day I first bought it.

Best knife I've ever owned
I have collected knives for a long time. This is the first knife I've had that is "perfect". I wouldn't change a thing. I uce it as an edc. Knife edge is still sharp, but only time will tell about the steel. So far, it is a perfect.
