axis lock
AXIS® A patented Benchmade exclusive, AXIS has been turning heads and winning fans ever since its introduction. A 100-percent ambidextrous design, AXIS gets its function from a small, hardened steel bar which rides forward and back in a slot machined into both steel liners. The bar extends to both sides of the knife, spanning the liners and positioned over the rear of the blade. It engages a ramped, tang portion of the knife blade when it is opened. Two omega style springs, one on each liner, give the locking bar it’s inertia to engage the knife tang, and as a result the tang is wedged solidly between a sizable stop pin and the AXIS bar itself.

Pros: Blade Material, Lock Type, Handle Feel, Overall Quality
Cons: None
One of the best for everyday use!
Having owned a ton of knives the Rift is still one of my favorites, it's a perfect size for a multitude of everyday uses. Very comfortable handle, and the blade is a great shape for slicing but still thick enough to be durable. The axis lock is rock solid, the handles are also very grippy, which a lot of G10 is finished too smoothly. They hit a home run with this one!

Nice knife.
Great look! Deployes fast and smooth! Lock feels solid. It's a little bigger than I like to carry every day,That's just my preference. I still think it's one of my favorite knifes I own.

Good knife bad luck
I purchased this knife with the hopes of a good deal... My primary use for the knife is to serve me during my work as a FireFighter/paramedic ... I wanted a knife big enough to use with gloves on...small enough to always have on my uniform.... And pretty enough to make my co-workers jealous.... I received the knife 4 days after ordering... Pretty fast in my book... The knife came well packed and when I did a initial inspection I was all smiles ... This knife is gorgeous!!!!! I notices that I had to adjust tension on the blade a few times just from flicking it open and closed .... After closer inspection I found a bronze washer is missing from knife leaving the blade rubbing on one side of handle and also a loose sloppy fit... I have yet to fix the problem as I hate to let the knife go but I will end up sending it to benchmade who I'm sure will take care of it Knife is mostly awesome.... I really wish is was assisted open but benchmade makes such a nice action that is silky smooth and almost faster to manually open... Blade has been through a few door pry's and dry wall cuts... And still preforms like new Nice weight Nice design Nice looks Solid lockup I have several other knives to purchase which will be sewn into my gear... And I will prob buy more benchmade's
