Pros: Sheath/Scabbard, Handle Material, Blade Material, Materials, Weight, Overall Quality, Finish
Cons: Blade Sharpness, None
A solid hunk of steel
I always had wanted a neck knife, and this is a nice one. It is gracefully designed and fits well into my rather small hand. The indentation for my index finger and the jimping on the top of the blade results in a secure grip. The butt end of the grip would serve as a good impact multiplier, but it's exposed because my hands are small. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the purchase. However, it is among the larger examples of the breed, and because I am not a large man, may "print" through my shirt. The description indicated that the knife may also serve as a small belt knife, giving the user a sense of the size. The sheath is clearly a neck arrangement, and I don't see an easy way to convert it into a belt knife other than sticking it inside one's waist band. Also, the blade was not nearly as sharp out of the box as another Boker Plus item I've purchased from Knife Center: a Armed Forces Series Tactical Tanto fixed blade. The Nippon Necker material is 440C, which is relatively easy to sharpen.
