Cons: None
Solid EDC pocket knife
Had a Buck 500 back in the 70's/early 80's. Have no idea what ever happened to it. Always wanted another one, but they quit making them for a long time. When I found out that Buck had brought them back, I had to have one. The stainless steel bolsters and Rosewood handle create a knife that is as beautiful as it is functional. It opens and closes smoothly, and locks open with a good solid snap. There is no 'wiggle' in the blade when locked open, and the handle size is just right for a full 4 finger grip in my average sized hands. The 3" blade is plenty sharp right out of the box, and is just right for all of those everyday chores that are expected from a good pocket knife. The 500 comes with a leather sheath that appears to be of good quality, but I haven't used it, as I carry this one in my pocket instead. The sheath has a 'Buck Knives' stamp on front, and a '500' stamp on back, so you will always know which sheath belongs to this knife. The 500 has replaced my Cutco 1886 as my EDC pocket knife. (The Cutco is also a fine little knife, but I wanted another Buck 500) The 500 is almost too big for a pocket knife, and I'm afraid that the pocket that carries it will eventually give it up. If and when that happens, I'll just get a new pair of jeans... A small price to pay. I carry an old Western L36 on my side for the bigger chores, which is why my 500 is my 'pocket' knife. This little Buck is a solid, well built good looking knife, and I fully expect it to outlast my 56 year old body. If for whatever reason it doesn't, The 'Forever' warranty on every Buck knife will take care of that. Best price I found was at KnifeCenter.com. Less than $50. out the door, and they shipped it the same day.

Great Buck Value
I have had the baby brother to this knife now for a while hoping Buck would offer the 500 again, and at least for a time they are. This 500 which I have had for less the 48 hrs. has surpassed my old excellent 501 as my new favorite locking folder from Buck. The F&F is way beyond the just under fifty bucks it takes to get this one to your door! The sheath while nothing to write home about is adequate for a knife in this price range. If your wanting a little more then your 501 this knife is must especially if you are a Buck person! Closing I would add that the diamond rose wood scales are very nice. This lock back gives me all I could ask for and more in a very affordable package!
