This knife is made from top quality material G10 and S30V. It is made in the US and has flawless constriction. The carry positions are tip up clip and reversible for right or left pocket carry. The blade is evenly blade ground with a fantastic edge and bevel. It has a workable flipper / guard when open. I can’t leave it behind or put it down. I would like to see a version with gimping and the liners drilled to lessen the weight. The weight feels great in hand but could be lighter in pocket.

Very nice knife, fits your hand well, good steel, very solidly built. Has an open "back side" of the knife. This tend to get some build up since dirt/sand/whatever can come in both sides of the knife. If I didn't have one know, I'd buy one

can't believe the value, the knife has everything you could ask for, great steel (s30v) great handle (g10) extremely solid lockup, very comfortable to use. heat treatment by paul bos is a extra goody! i think the blade could be a tad thicker for strength, but it is surely strong enough for hard use. the deep hollow grind makes it easy to get a razor edge. no swedge grind makes for an extremely strong point. if you ain't got one, you're missing out big time!

I have been reading about S30V steel and its advantages so I wanted a blade made of this type of steel.I was very pleased with this purchase. The knife is made in USA,it is shaving sharp and seems very well made. I couldn't find a a knife made of this steel and by a known manufacturer for anything close to price of this knife.

I use this knife daily. i have had it for almost two months and I must say as always with Buck products I am not let down. Blade has held it's edge and the balance is great! I love the flush pocket clip! The blade opens as fast as any of my autos and I never have to worry about legal issues. Overall I have never found a better knife for the money.

I find the Vantage Pro to be one of the very best bargains available to day in the knife market. Top notch materials and design with fit and finish as good as any others out there. It is a steal and a steel (S30V).

Beautiful knife, excellent quality for 50$, perfect design, excellent ergonomics, sits in your hand like a glove, I did not tested it yet but first impression is that it is an outstanding knife. Probably one of the best mid size folders on the market based on price/quality value. You paying 50$ and getting this beauty. One small cons, When it is closed the blade is slightly off center. But I guess I do not mind that.

Review 8: 5   Headline: Excellent knife!

Cons:
by Glen From Pacific Northwest on 10/06/2009
I very much the blade shape on this knife, so I bought one, knowing that S30V steel has excellent edge retention characteristics. This knife opens very easily using either the thumb-hole or the "flipper". The liner lock seems solid and secure, and the G10 scales feel good in the hand. The knife and clip glide in and out of a pocket very smoothly, and the knife was shaving sharp right out of the box. Overall this knife seems to be very solidly built, and is a tremendous value. It is now my every day carry knife, and it will get used during hunting season as well. I am very pleased with this knife!

I work with this knife in my job (HVAC) I have had many knifes many broken, and many have been abducted by the ailiens...... Never to be seen again.. this knife has the best grade of steel in the blade i have seen. It takes a while to get it sharpened the way you want, but it holds the edge very well and it will take an edge equal to a shaving razor. light wieght and very easy to carry. I can not think of any negatives. Very well worth the money.

I am very selective on what knives I buy and for me, the vantage pro met all of the criteria at a killer price. I have carried it for about a week and the deep pocket clip is great, I have never carried a knife using the clip because I usually carry a swiss army super tinker. The knife came super sharp. It deploys fast with the flipping mechanism. I noticed some people said the blade isn't quite centered and some knives are favoring one side of the handle. Mine is one of them. I think the liner lock presses on the side of the blade when it is closed causing it to favor the opposite side of the liner lock. Mine isn't rubbing though. If it rubs I may send it back but as long as it doesn't touch I don't care. Looks are subjective yet I will say that this knife looked awesome in the picture and even better in real life. The thinness of the handle is awesome in the pocket yet I could see that being a little uncomfortable with extended use. In short, I think this knife rocks, and the price is ridiculous. I have never wanted to own different versions of the same knife because I thought it was silly to have a repeat when i could have something else with different capabilities. I think I am going to buy the avid model and the small select just for fun though. get it you won't be disappointed.

I'm knife nut! I rarely purchase a knife that I don't pick and get a feel for first...But I chose this one just based on price, reviews, and materials! Great pick! Its fits that line between an EDC and gent folder! Premium materials for a budget price! I agree they could make it lighter and more "tactically" correct! But this definately will fit perfectly us guys that don't need to disarm a IED or split a cord of wood! It fits great and its hair OMG jumping off my arm sharp! The fact that its USA made by one of the oldest knife companies doesn't hurt either! So great knife for a great price american made...this is IT!

The glue in logo is not flush with the handle. Outside of that there is nothing to complain about. Delightful knife.

I've never reviewed a knife before, but felt compelled to speak about this knife. Everything about this knife is of the highest quality: materials, design, fit and finish. The S30V blade is 3.125" long, 1.0" wide, deeply hollow ground, and tempered by Paul Bos. The handle is also well designed and a natural extension of the blade. The lock-up is solid with zero play. So Many knives today are "trendy" and even garish in design. This knife is rare in it's simple elegant lines. It would be a great buy at twice the price!

S30V Stainless Steel with Paul Bos heat treat, G10 scales, and a Stainless Steel liner lock that cannot be spine whacked closed; passes the A.T. Barr liner lock tests. Pocket clip for discreet deep pocket carry. Smooth finish, shaving sharp out of the box, and the centering issue with earlier models is fixed so the blade closes centerline. Outstanding knife for EDC, whether you are in jeans or in a suit. I cannot find anything wrong with this knife. Quality craftsmanship at an affordable price. Highest recommendation.

Review 17: 5   Headline: Elegance, quality, high end steel and at this price= value redefined!

by Ragnar From CANADA INC. on 07/01/2010
This knife is just gorgeous and elegant. I would not trash this one(I've got a rat-1 for that). Well cared for, it would last a life time, of that I am assured! The materials of this item would be considered high end. The tempering of the blade should be of high quality and it is stamped with the Paul Bos logo. The Rockwell hardness been in the 60ish, I will be thoughtful in it use not to chip bits and chunks of the edge off. The blade was leaning to the left in the liner when closed, but that was easily fixed by simply tightening the pivot screw by about a 1/3 of a rotation. This knife is N-I-C-E!!!

This knife is great! With its g-10 scales to the s30v steel any other brand name knife made of the same material would cost at least twice as much. It has a great lockup,no movement at all, the clip allows for the knife to not be seen sticking out of your pocket, the blade is large enough to be used tactically. I will use it as my edc blade. After writing this I think I will order another one.

This knife has been a fixture in my pocket since I got it. The quality and premium materials make it a superb value. The design is just fantastic. I love it and highly recomend it to anyone looking for a great EDC knife that up to every task that a pocket knife may be called to perform.

I didn't have an opportunity to handle this knife before buying it, but knowing Buck and S30V steel I ordered it anyway. I was not disappointed. I rate this knife as an outstanding value. There are some cons if you are left handed. The liner lock would interfere with a left handed user. But, I'm right handed so it is not an issue for me. This knife is now my go to EDC knife. Easy to carry, light, one hand operation both open and close, fast deployment, high quality construction and materials, good design. The S30V steel is outstanding..... it gets very sharp and retains the edge well. I highly recommend this knife. It did take a while to get it since it was a backorder item but it is worth the wait.

I dare you to try to find another brand name knife with G10 handle and S30V blade for under $50.00. I know I tried and failed. This knife has a very solid feel to it. It generates confidence that this knife will see you through what is coming. I proudly served this country in Vietnam and would buy this knife for any loved one I had going to war today. A good knife is a cheap insurance policy for all military personnel. The only thing I found I didn't like was no lanyard hole in handle.
