CRKSEB21SM: Small Sebenza 21 Micarta
Chris Reeve Knives
The Sebenza is 21 years old!

Who would have thought back in 1988 that Chris's titanium handle folder would become a legend in the industry! Constant attention to design details and an unwavering commitment to quality in every aspect of the knife has created the Sebenza as a hallmark of excellence. To mark this amazing milestone, they are planning to make some changes to the lineup of Sebenzas.

Chris Reeve is going to stop making almost all Regular profile Sebenzas. The profile on the Classic will change slightly and this version will be known as Sebenza 21.

The design change on Sebenza 21 gives a more pronounced chamfer on the pivot edge of the handle allowing the knife to be inserted more easily into a pocket or sheath. The engraving of "Classic MM" on the back of the Classic Sebenza will be eliminated, making differentiation of the two models easy! The blade shape remains the same.

Micarta Inlays

Because they found most customers choose the Micarta inlay as a working knife, the S35VN blades are tumbled and the handles are sandblasted. Silver thumb lug and a barrel spacer round out this hardworking functional model.

A tougher steel than S30V, it retains the excellent corrosive properties and ability to take an edge, but improves on the ability to hold that edge.

Pros: Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness, Handle Material, Weight, Blade Material, Lock Type
Cons: None
I always wondered why such a plain knife would sell for so much, and why those who bought them were so happy with their purchase. Let me tell you: I waited a long time. I waited until I had reached a certain rather big goal before buying a sebenza. It is a fantastic knife, and leaves nothing lacking. The only thing that surprised me is that it was hard to open one-handed at first -- it requires a break-in period and now works very smoothly. On one hand I know I didn't get a used one, but it wouldn't have bothered me if they had hired a drop-out to break the thing in for me. Yes, it's relatively expensive. But it's preventing me from buying a bunch of knives that are not quite there. The micarta inlays are nice and grippy too.
