Cold Steel’s new generation of Mini Tac Neck Knives are astonishingly light at 3 ounces each. Because they’re so lightweight, they can be comfortably worn practically 24 hours a day. With their sturdy bead chain lanyards and their rugged Secure Ex® sheaths (specially designed to snugly retain the knife while allowing a speedy draw stroke), they can be worn outside clothing and perform as a handy utility or rescue knife. They can also be carried more discreetly under a shirt or blouse, or inside a coat. They can even be used for camping or hiking as they can easily be tied or taped anywhere from a backpack to a fanny pack. Their versatility is virtually endless. Fashioned from AUS 8A stainless steel and reflecting state of the art heat treatment they are honed to a razor edge and exhibit incredible toughness for such a small knife, due in part to their full tang construction. Tough, rough, and ready for anything, they come equipped with thin high quality black G-10 handle scales. This feature allows them to lie flat and close against the body and provide an aggressive gripping surface. Also when these scales are combined with integral sub hilt they give the fingers of the hand incredible purchase and allow a remarkably secure grip that resists rolling or twisting.

Offers a super wide blade with a long shallow "V" cross section that’s ideal for cutting and shearing or piercing. It makes a great all around field knife too and will prove equally useful outdoors at camp or at home in the kitchen.

Cold Steel Mini Tac Beavertail
A fantastic knife at an incredible price! Anyone looking for a small fixed blade EDC knife will find an excellent option in the Beavertail. I got mine for use as a light/small Bushcraft knife for finer work. I like everything about this knife but it could be improved. Improvments I would like to see and be willing to pay a premium for would be a slightly beefier/thicker tang/spine and standard sized eyelet/grommet holes, with the addition of a method for belt carry.

Great little knife
This is a great little knife. I bought it mostly because I have a few others from this series and this one was on sale. After playing with it for the last couple weeks, I must say it is now actually my favorite of this series of 'small' neck knives. It has the right amount of 'belly' for practical chores and skinning (although I have not skinned anything with it); it's light and strong enough to use as a defensive blade in a pinch. It doesn't look threatening, and isn't a weapon; I'd call it a legitimate utility knife that can do other chores. If I could change it at all.... earlier series of similar Cold Steel knives were a tad thicker and I think slightly better steel. I know for cost cutting they went with a slightly thinner (but still very adequate for most chores) thickness; but I'd pay another $5-10 for better steel. The scabbard is great, it's kinda like kydex; and in a knife for this size, weight and quality it's perfect; works great! This is a utility knife, with some potential. I recommend this knife - absolutely.

its a solid kife
it is a very good skinning knife. I skinned a deer with it and it worked extremely well. you can get a good edge on it but it doesn't hold an edge very well. putting in and out of the sheath dulls the blade pretty quickly. it would be nice if it came with a belt clip. I put leather laces through the holes in the sheath so I can carry it horizontally on my belt. it is very handy like that.
