Description
CS88MNS: U.S. Marine NCO Saber
Cold Steel

While we heartily approve of our Armed Forces wearing dress swords and sabers, we thought it was a shame that only unsharpened, poorly tempered wall hangers made of weak stainless steel are all that's available.

That's why we decided to make our own truly battle worthy reproductions. They're faithful in every detail to government specifications; they offer highly polished blades, appropriate etching and quality hilts and scabbards.

The only real changes we have made are to drastically improve their performance as weapons by forging them from 1050 Carbon Steel and properly heat treating them to a tough spring temper before sharpening.

In the case of the Marine Corps Officer's Saber, we have changed the hilt to solid mirror polished brass (not easily worn gold plate) and improved the attachment of the tang to the hilt so it could better withstand the rigors of sword to sword combat.

Was not disappointed!
I separated from the Marine Corps in 2007 and had always wanted my NCO sword, but didn't want to spend the money at Cash Sales to get one. I saw this sword from Cold Steel and was immediately drawn to the fact that it is a real sword. I did a lot of research before purchasing this sword, read all the reviews I could find, and I was little put off on the fact that the blade said "INDIA" on it, in huge bold letters. I ended up purchasing the sword, and when it arrived, I discovered that it no longer says "INDIA" on the blade, it just has the Cold Steel logo. I am extremely pleased with my purchase and I would recommend this sword to any Marine that is considering purchasing an NCO sword. The only draw back is that there was no space in the scroll work for engraving the owner's name.

The Best for the Best
The Marine NCO Sword is a symbol of leadership. The swords that Marines carry in special ceremonies and parades are ceremonial swords (Look good but no edge.). These swords that were purchased, will be presented to the NCO and Marine of the Year at the I MEF level. These Marines represent the best of the best and as such will receive a sword with an edge like the ones carried by the Marines from our past. The Marines that are our history and established our traditions. These swords were made for "Cold Steel" which has an excellent reputation. The type of steel used, is great for this type of weapon and the edge is keen right out of the box. The brass parts of the sword, drag and throat of the scabbard are right on the mark. Only those that have earned the title of Marine will fully understand what this sword represents. Semper Fidelis

What a sword!!
I bought this sword for my former Marine brother who never got issued his whilst in the corps. The fit and finish were absolutely flawless and the overall aesthetics far surpassed that of any decorative wall hanger. Awesome job Cold Steel! I'll definately be buying that 1917 navy cutlass I want so bad now and I'll be buying it from knife enter.com because they've been the lowest price I've seen anywhere on the Internet.
