Review 1: 3   Headline: Not a bad kit without the aligner rod hassle
Pros:
Cons:
by M on 03/12/2009
Pros: * It fits over a little thicker blades than my other aligner. * Diamond stones are nice, fit good on the holder. * Stones easy to clean with just water and stay flat even after more than a couple hours of grinding. * Nylon holster/stone-pocket handy if you carry this in your backpack or such, I only wish it was designed to take the aligner with the rods attached too. Still a good pocket for your stones and stone holder. Fits few extra stones easy. * Takes much less space than other such kits in your backpack. * Price of replacement or additional stones seems reasonable. Cons: * No angle markings in the rods. Have to manually measure what slot is what angle, possibly mark them with white/silver paintpen yourself. My other aligner has clear angle markings and I used that to check this one. * Aligner rods are not centered. The two rods need their separate sockets and need to be adjusted separately to the right slot. With no clear angle markings can get a little annoying. * Rods a little bent and feeling flimsy. Conclusion: Not a bad kit without the aligner rod hassle. One little stick of plastic that holds one of the rods in the aligner socket broke within a minute of me opening the packaging. Seems I will not bother to send it back since even the clamp seems sturdy and useful in itself, the rods are not quite up there. I will be using this kit with my old Lansky aligner clamp.
