Dovo Best Value 5/8 Straight Razor Full Hollow Ground
If you are new to straight shaving or are purchasing a straight razor as a gift be sure to purchase the necessary components to compliment it or it will not be useable. You must have, in addition to the razor, a honing stone. The Norton 4000/8000 grit water stone is great. You must have a strop and the appropriate cream for the leather and canvas side. The razor comes fairly sharp but your shaving pleasure will be greatly enhanced if you will prepare the blade properly and allow it to "set" overnight. The KnifeCenter provides excellent literature on sharpening and preparing your razor for use. This razor is very fine and gives an excellent shave. It can compare to razors with fancy engraving and exotic handles costing hundreds of dollars. You shave with the steel, not the handle, and if you want an inexpensive razor that will last for years look no further. You will be pleased. One thing to point out is that plastic-handled razors are notoriously difficult to hold with wet, soapy fingers. This would be the only drawback that I can point out with this item. Keep the handle and your hand wiped dry while using this razor because otherwise it feels like it wants to slip out of your grasp. Dropping your straight razor in the sink or on the floor is a guaranteed hone and strop job before you can finish shaving.

Exceeds my vintage razors
the razors I shave with are 80 years old (or older) and this is much better than my vintage razors. I've shaved with these long enough that I naturally don't trust any edge but mine, so after honing and stropping to my liking this razor delivered. I really don"t like to compare my face to a baby's butt, however that's what this blade gives me.
