I was intrigued with this knife simply because of he price for a short blade yet with a full size handle. The blade is full tang. The green on the handle is anodized steel that has been added as plates on the tang that is exposed on the rear-top area. The blade is made of 420HC stainless. This is a very usable steel if it has received a good heat treatment. Buck does a wonderful heat treatment with this steel hardening it to 58 on the Rockwell Scale. I have no info on the heat-treat of Gerber's steel. The knife was sharp when received. The sheath is forgettable, yet what does one expect for 15-bucks? I have another sheath that fits it. Decent knife for what ya pay.
