Kershaw Knives

A HANDSOME GENTLEMAN'S KNIFE

Polish your image with the new Kershaw Crown. From its satin-polished blades and bolsters to its handsome Micarta® scales, this is a classic gentleman's knife.

Micarta is an industrial laminate composed of layers of fiber embedded in a resin and subjected to heat and high-pressure to make the material extremely hard and dense. It has both industrial and decorative applications and it makes a remarkably handsome knife handle—especially when polished to a shine as it is in the Kershaw Crown.

The Crown’s blade is 8Cr13MoV for a solid balance of strength with an ability to take and hold an edge. The Crown is a classic manual-opening knife, but its fast and easy with the ambidextrous thumbstuds. A secure locking liner keeps the blade safely opened until the user releases it. The Crown offers two carry options—a single-position pocketclip as well as a lanyard hole drilled in the handle. The Crown makes a handsome gentleman's knife, yet is large enough to be a genuinely useful knife when the need arises.

Pros: Blade Material, Handle Feel, Blade Sharpness, Pocket Clip, Weight, Handle Material, Lock Type
Cons: Overall Quality, Lock Ease of Use, None
Nice But Lacking QC
When getting this knife among a bundle of others, I thought "This will be the best of the group" owing to w/my former satisfying experience with KAI/Kershaw. I was saddened that this cute little blade slipped past inspection(it was intended as a gift to a fellow collector) with a number of flaws. Being bubble packaged meant it wasn't the fault of KC yet another person missed a few fit-&-finish flaws that became obvious under magnification-micarta to steel fit only satisfactory(something you see more of in 'TV knives') and mediocre polish on some areas. Needless to say, I'll be looking for another blade to impress my friend with, hopefully I'll find it here.

Kershaw Crown
Great gentleman's folder. Sharp right out of the box. Looks right at home in a suit jacket pocket.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Blade Material, Lock Type, None
Cons: Lock Ease of Use, Ease of Opening, Pocket Clip, Overall Quality
It has a few problems
The lock came totally busted, I could not lock the knife and had to grind the lock for it to work. Now it opens up smoothly but the lockup is not very good, it has a tendency to close when stabbing or when there is a lot of force on the blade. Knife is a bit overweight for its class and it came with a really sharp edge. Pocket clip is not very good but I didn't expect it to be good for this price. All in all it probably depends on luck, if you buy one you might get a really decent gentleman's knife for the money or a total garbage that you must repair before use.
