Kershaw Knives

Kershaw Knives and Emerson Knives have joined forces on a series of knives that combine the precision engineering of Kershaw with Emerson's uncompromising functional design.

The CQC-7K features a modified tanto blade for both slicing and punching capability. The blade has two finishes: a satin finish on the grind and a stonewashed finish on the upper. The handle's front scale of textured G-10 offers a secure grip and the handle's stainless steel back has a solid frame lock.

The CQC-7K is a manual opener using either the thumb disk or the patented Emerson "wave shaped feature." This opening feature enables the knife to be opened as it is removed from the pocket. By the time the knife has been fully withdrawn from the pocket, the blade is deployed and ready for use. A small wave-shaped tab on the top of the blade is built to catch on the pocket seam, opening the knife as it comes out of the pocket. This instant-open feature is a favorite among military, rescue, and law enforcement knife users.

This knife design based off the Emerson Reliant model without the thumb hole and the pocketclip is reversible for left- or right-handed carry.
  • Manual - There is no mechanical assist, such as SpeedSafe, used to open the folding knife. It opens the classic, old-school way.
  • Frame Lock - A portion of the handle (the knife frame) moves behind the blade to lock it into position during use. This is a safety feature of the knife.
  • Reversible - Pre-drilled holes in the handle enable the user to change either the tip position or the side on which the knife carries.

Decent Knife for the price
I have owned this knife since before Thanksgiving in 2014. First off when I bought it; it did have the other set of screws included. PROS: 1)The thumb disk/wave works just as it should. It's my first knife with either one of these and I enjoy it based off that as an edc. 2) The price for this knife in it's entirety is fairly decent. (only reason it got 4 instead of 5 stars) 3)Love the design of the knife as it's made by a great knife maker 4) It has a decent steel that is very easy to sharpen for beginners but it also holds a decent edge for what it is. CONS: 1) The weight is very heavy. 2) The plastic washers are terrible. When adjusting the pivot screw it has to be either too tight so it doesn't swing open with the thumb or too loose that the blade doesn't stay centered. If you can find it for cheaper than 35 bucks (which I did) then buy it.

Great knife, but not reversible.
Excellent knife at this price point, but not, at this time, if you are left handed. The clip screws are not long enough to work on the G10 scale side of the knife. The reversibility was one of the major reasons I ordered this knife, so I was really disappointed. Kershaw is aware of the problem (I called them, and they told me I was not the first to do so), but has, so far, not made any correction. Great knife for the money if you are right handed.
