Description
MACA950B: Slipjoint Folder
Mac Coltellerie

We have long searched for a value priced line of folding knives and specialty tools that was still made in Europe. We are very pleased to introduce this line from Maniago, Italy that has the pricing of something you would find from Asia, but the style and flair of the old world!

Want a good quality folder that will last a while and don't want to spend a fortune? Do you prefer one that's not thrown together in China or Pakistan with variable quality? This nice Italian Made folding knife features a good quality stainless steel blade, strong Zytel handles and Italian craftsmanship. This is a slipjoint mechanism, meaning it doesn't lock open, but has a very strong spring allowing it to stay open or closed. Designed for two-hand opening using the nail nick. You can put through the ringer and not worry about but aren't junk. They will perform at a great price. Throw one in your glovebox, tackle box and every junk drawer in your house. They even look good with highly polished blades!

Here is the story of Mac Coltellerie:

The craftsmanship that had developed in Maniago in ancient times has grown and developed in to what it is today.

It was in these surroundings during the 1920's the business began, when Di Bon Giovanni, at that time 14 years old, started manufacture knives.

In 1936, Giovanni, along with other partners, created a small factory that worked for other knife manufacturers.

In 1958, his son Roberto also entered in partnership.

In 1964, the present Mac Coltellerie was founded and production was focused towards the classic, little knives for souvenirs.

With the help of Roberto's experience in sports, Mac made its first pass in creating other types of knives. Around 1978, the first hunting and diving knives were produced. At this point, the company started a process of expanding the production of diving knives and starting to produce nautical, fishing and rescue knives. With the growth in production, a bigger factory was needed and in 1984, Mac moved to the factory to where it is today.

In 2003, Roberto's son Matteo joined to take part in his business, bringing a major computerization to the business.

Thanks to a vast machinery yard and specific up-to-date equipment, Mac Coltellerie develops the whole production process in its factory.

Pros: Ease of Opening, Handle Material, Handle Feel, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Overall Quality
Cons: None
This is a super knife for the price.
This seems like a good solid knife. It came dull, with a huge burr, but a few minutes on the Sharpmaker brought it to paper cutting sharp. As a matter of fact, it cuts paper as well as my new Chris Reeve small Insingo. Not bad for this price. I have not tested how long it will stay sharp, but my guess, not very long. But that's okay with me because it is so easily sharpened. It's a perfect knife for around-the-house chores, even sticking it in the dirt, or doing other things you wouldn't think of doing with an expensive knife. I would not rely on this knife for serious knife work, but it will definitely be one of my go-to knives for the majority of my home chores. If you need a knife, but don't want to mess up your scary sharp edge on your "serious" knives, this is a great alternative. I bought two, and will probably buy more the next time I put in an order.
