Description
MNTBK2A: BK-2a Bottleneck
Mantis Knives

The introduction of the "Bottleneck Family" was a milestone for the Mantis brand. This series of knives was our first collaboration with Hawk Designs of Idaho City, ID.

Gavin and Grant Hawk have long been friends of the Mantis organization, so it was only natural that we eventually collaborated to bring knife enthusiasts one of the most unique gadgets that the knife-marketplace has ever seen.

The Bottleneck design boasts a bottle opener, butterfly knife which attaches effortlessly to any keyring with it's integral handle/latch configuration.

Pros: None
Cons: Blade Material, Blade Sharpness, Lock Ease of Use, Overall Quality
Poorly made
I originally bought this knife because of how cool looking it was. I soon discovered every time i tried to latch the blade shut, the pivot screw holding the arm to the blade would pop out. I called customer service and the rep took one out of the box and saw the same problem. I would not recommend this knife.

Cheap steel
I'm now sharpening one of these knives for a friend. The "400" series steel of this knife might be 420J or similar, with very low carbon content, as this is a soft steel that doesn't take a good edge. If the steel was decent, the specs would have listed it as such, such as "440C' or "440A", but the omission pretty much admits to the fact that it's on the bottom rung of the "400" series of steels. Plus, most likely, poor heat treat of the steel. I'm going to feel bad when I tell my friend that it's a crap knife.
