love it
I first bought one of these sometime around '04-'05, from Justin Gingrich. The purpose of the knife is clear - it's an assault knife. Sure, it makes a great survival knife/ long-range scout-type knife, but the wide, saber-ground, mod. spear-point design with a pointed pommel makes this design optimal for punching holes in body armor, 6" being the expert-approved length for stabbing through heavy clothing. The plunge of the primary grind is at the distal end of the generous choil, allowing it to act almost as a sub-hilt, locking the grip to prevent any slippage during full-force stabs or pommel-strikes. The blade stock is thinner than Gingrich usually uses for all-purpose combat blades, which is another feature that makes it a more aggressive weapon, vs. a camp/ survival design where a full flat grind with a thicker stock would make a knife better suited for shelter-building and wood-processing. In summation, this knife is the best all-around assault knife design i have seen to date. One last thing - if you plan to use this knife for its intended purpose, you will have a sheath made for it. You can easily pay more than the cost of this knife for a quality mil-spec kydex rig - it's surprising that it comes with a sheath at this price, so i don't understand the complaints about the sheath.

Cons: Sheath/Scabbard, None
All I can say is great job Ontario! I'm a fan of the large 9 to 8 in. blades, I wanted a good shorter all around knife and I think I have found it, plan on using it as a hunting blade and woods knife, the sheath is nice just a little to much movement when sheathed. Overall great edge heavy stock and awesome handle, great buy!

the best medium range survival knife on the market
i got this knife last week. and in my opinion it is the best medium sized survival knife i've ever used. I have alot of other knives in that range and this knife wins hands down. i took it out and did some batoning and chopping with it and it works excellent. i also used it for some basic utility chores and it excelled. comfy in the hand and heavy enough to do anything you need it to. the only downside is the sheath.... which i would only give a 2.5 out of 5. but modding it alittle bit brought it up to a 3.5 or so..... but the knife itself is good enough to make up for that. if you are looking for a medium sized blade GET THIS KNIFE!
