Knife came very sharp, and use it daily for most cutting chores. Liked it so much bought another for a spare.

Outstanding Blade.
This is one of the best bushcraft survival knives on the market. This knife is a perfect weight for doing both camp chores--batoning and also for kitchen work. There is one problem with it however. This is not a beginners knife. You need to know how to read the blade. Be forewarned, if you are unfamiliar with sharpening knives, this knife will really frustrate you until you get your first edge on it. Once you prep the knife, your are done. You just touch it up.

Good camp knife
When I received the knife it was essentially a flat strip of steel with a hard wood handle. How you grind the bevel is pretty much up to you.You get what you put into it. I ground mine on a course Norton stone until it was pretty sharp then switched to a medium stone, and then to fine. The blade is springy, thinner than the blade of a butcher knife but still pretty stiff. I have never used my knife to cut hops but use it to carve roast chickens, roast beef, stew meat, rope, anything I might need to cut. It re-sharpens easily and I can shave my arm or cut paper with it. I do not have a sheath for it otherwise I would carry it as a bush knife. Even though the blade is thinner than a butcher blade unless you use it as a crow bar you will not break it. The only real con is the use of only two rivets on the handle. But the price is right and it goes on every camping trip with me.
