Description
QAQTR5: QTR-5 Theodore "T.C." Calvin
QTRM5TR Knives

The second karambit design of the QTRM5TR line. Its overall size is reduced and many of its angles have been refined to give way to a more “pocket friendly” frame-lock experience. The thumb slot allows this Knife “T.C” to further differentiate itself from its predecessor the QTR-2 “B.A.” The QTR-5 is a magnificent example of the newest and best that the cutlery world is currently offering. The QTR-5 is assembled with the ORB® Pivot System and Tri-Spoke® Pivot Assembly.

About the ORB® Pivot System:

The ORB® Pivot System is a sealed ball-bearing technology that is widely considered the second generation of an open-bearing system that is being used by some manufacturers today.

The ORB’s advantages are plenty: dirt and pocket lint cannot impede the track of these rollers, they’re encased. The ball-bearing system tightens the tolerances in and around the pivot of the folding knife, as a result the lock-up is vault tight, yet the rollers allow for almost effortless rotation.

The lack of ‘play’ at any point on the rotational axis of the blade is truly unlike anything currently being made at this price point in the United States.

About the Tri-Spoke Pivot Assembly:

A single thread weaves its way through every corner of the knife industry: the desire to be original. To author some form, to create something unique and memorable lives at the desk of every designer throughout our profession.

QTRM5TR's signature, at the present point on their timeline is the Tri-Spoke Pivot® Assembly. At the heart of the Tri-Spoke Pivot assembly is the T10 Torx slot, but the science around the perimeter is what’s most interesting. By engineering their own unique hardware and implementing the component as an oversized pivot, they allow our folding knives to distribute the force of assembly over a larger area, allowing the knife to pivot at the same speed throughout its smooth rotation. The results are stunning to say the least.

Outstanding knife
This is easily the best tactical folding knife I've ever owned and I say this having owned Spyderco, Cold Steel, and Emerson folders. The orb pivot system is as advertised, as smooth as butter. When drawing the knife underhanded it can even be opened using your pinky finger and the jimping acts as a remote pocket opening system if you prefer that opening method. The only possible draw back is deploying the knife quickly into an overhand grip is a little bit awkward because you will end up having to spin it around your pinky finger into your hand. I've also found that the long hole for thumb opening is awkward to open with your thumb but is delightfully easy to open using your pointer finger.

best foldinh karambit for medium size hands
The knife just fit my hands perfectly with no extra handle space and its compact for carry unobstrusively. Again like all Quartermaster knives.. the heft and thickness of the blade gives it an indestructible aura!
