Description
SCHOTF: Extreme Survival 1st Gen OTF
Schrade

Schrade brand knives have so many models - but they are cleverly designed, well made and really economical. These Out-the-Front openers are super fast and well made. They have a safety on the side and the mechanism takes a little getting used to, but they are truly awesome and impressive.

Pros: Blade Material, Lock Ease of Use, Lock Type, Overall Quality, Handle Material, Weight, Ease of Opening, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Pocket Clip, None
I guess I got one of the old ones
I bought one of these when they were on sale, but mine is aluminum handled. It was sharp out of the box. The screws on the part used to push the blade out and pull it back in came loose, so I used my hex keys to put it back on and tighten it. I also used some lock title. This brings me to a question. How many of you who whine and bash a product have ever taken the time to closely examine a production knife when you take it out of the box? Sometimes you get the last knife of the line on Friday afternoon when the guy making it for below minimum wage is going home for the weekend, and the guy from quality control has a migraine. If it is something you can fix real fast then do it. Suck it up and be a man..

Pros: Weight, Overall Quality
Cons: None
I had this knife for a while. Do not really like it initially, but it grew on me. I am currently EDCing this knife. The lightweight of this knife is a plus but it is a bit bulky in the pocket. Overall a great piece.

Sending mine back
Sounded like a really cool knife on paper, but once I held it in my hands it was a disappointment. Uncomfortable to open, uncomfortable to hold. The Ti-Ni coating on the blade is a quality touch. Too bad the blade edge was so dull out of the box. Some have complained of not being able to operate the sliding safety lock. Don't force it! The trick is to pull back on the thumb doohickey, taking tension off the safety; then it will lock-unlock easily.
