The Agency follows a SOG tradition of recreating and modernizing historic classics. This unique knife was shrouded in secrecy and originally created for special CIA operatives in the early days of the Vietnam War. It was designed for clandestine and counter insurgency teams who lived in the jungle for months at a time and saw vicious close quarter combat. Never before reproduced, the beautiful flowing lines of blade and handle have been retained. We vastly improved the construction and quality with modern materials like flawless stain finish and epoxy filled leather washers that were unknown at that time. An exquisite design of the highest caliber, the SOG Agency captures the mystique of a positively unique fixed blade.

AUS-8 Stainless Steel
A very widely used EDC steel, AUS-8 can take a very nice edge while also maintaining moderate edge holding and corrosion resistance properties.
Leather Sheath
Leather Sheath
Leather is known for its durability and traditional appeal. When compared to kydex it is preferred for its silence when bumped against other objects, as well as blade retention.

Effective
I am a collector of sorts of fixed blade combat knives. This is a very attractive piece. The handle offers a secure grip and the bolster is solid. The deep hollow grind of the blade makes it extremely effective at slicing, and the tip / spine design lends its self well to penetration. I would not, however recommend this as a functional field knife. The blade is not very thick, and the finish is shiny, 2 qualities I shied away from when choosing an EDC during my deployment in Iraq. (I generally used a Benchmade 155 SBK, the Ontario M-9 doesn't fit on a S.A.W.) The sheath Is rugged and functional, but only offers one carry position and is not Molle compatible. I also had to have the snap replaced almost immediately. In civilian life this knife has been relegated to the kitchen, where it slices tomatoes and onions and raw meat with ease. (it also strikes up an occasional conversation) Over the 3 years I've had it, the finish has held up well and the edge has required basic maintenance with a wet stone. Overall i am pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a bad @$$ kitchen knife or something pretty to look at, but not for some one who is going to seriously use it in the field.
