Description
SP101GP2: Manix 2 S30V
Spyderco

A recipe for folding knife success: Start with hard-use rated lock. Add a blade made of exotic high carbon steel. Manufacture it in Golden, Colorado using precise tolerances then add a healthy dash of American innovation. These ingredients are the Manix2, a concoction of solo features when combined make one of the strongest knives from Spyderco to date. Patented by Spyderco, the Manix2 has a Ball Bearing Lock. It’s a hardened free-floating ball bearing contained in a custom hi-tech polymer cage. The round ball bearing allows the lock to self adjust across a large surface, smoothly and consistently locking-up with solid confidence. Evolving over time, the Ball Bearing Lock’s strength withstands hard work with a secure, versatile and comfortable grip. Ergonomics are peerless in this design. The blade is S30V and flat-ground with aggressive thumb serrations (jimping) above a super sized 14mm Spyderco Round Hole. The Jimping doesn’t stop there. With full steel liners the scales have jimping that extends beyond the G-10 handle scales scalloping areas of the handle’s perimeter. This one is not slipping out of your hand and works well with gloves on! The liners pull double purpose by adding rigidly and lightweight strength to the handle. A three-screw clip is left/right-hand carry, positioned for comfort and deep pocket carry. The knife also has a large lanyard pipe to protect various types of cords or thongs.

Best knife I've owned
I had carried an Emerson for years. I bought this knife on a whim because I liked the shape. This knife blows the Emerson put of the water. The blade stays sharp and is easy to resharpen. I am a police officer and have used this knife in ways that a knife is not to be used but it keeps ticking. This knife is in my pocket everyday at work or at play.

Very nice knife. I thought it would be a little big. I carry it everyday at work and it hasn't bothered me at all in my work cargo pants. It does need a little break in for opening and closing. I really like the feel of the handle as well.

A Prize Winning Pit Bull
This knife has the feel of a pit bull, agile and powerful. The blade has a pleasing shape and is literally razor sharp. Check out wikipedia's description of CMP's s30V steel. It is impressive. Opening is buttery smooth and the lock is rock solid. With a few repetitions (practice), a one handed close is easily done by using thumb and index finger activation of release with slight rotation of wrist (a down-then-up rotation) - doing this, the blade freely drops back into the retracted carry position. The esthetics are exceptional as well, jimping is perfect. Fit in the hand is comfortable. The relatively thin profile is perfect for everyday carry. My favorite carry position is a front cross draw with the clip under my belt. Beautiful knife.
