The Calypso folder isn’t just one of Spyderco’s most popular folders, it inspired new Spyderco designs over the last ten years and converted many a knife buyer to the hard-use benefits of flat-ground, thick leaf-shaped blades. This is a workingman’s (or woman’s) folder and it’s founded on the design philosophy that the most comfortable and usable pocketknife is one that feels like a natural extension of your hand. The Caly3 has a VG-10 blade shaped like a leaf, thick at the tang, tapering to a robust tip. The sharpened edge is flat-ground and finely honed for precision and resistance-free cutting. There is a substantial finger choil where the handle meets the blade. At this spot the index finger settles naturally into the choil while the thumb settles directly above on the blade’s spine. The spine is textured with slip resistant jimping so the knife cannot slide forward or backward while cutting. The ergonomic handle is G-10 with a mid-positioned back lock. A low profile stainless wire clip holds the folder deeply in a pocket either tip-up.
Please note, the "bronze" color that you see on the clip is intentional. The clips are actually heat treated (they are stronger and will perform better because of this). The heat treated wire clip is also more discreet in your pocket.
