SP183TIP: C183TIP Burch Chubby
Inspired by one of knifemaker Michael Burch's most popular custom models, the Burch Chubby packs tremendous cutting performance into a very compact package. It's 2.3" CPM S30V blade is an impressive 4.5 mm thick and more than an inch and a half wide at its widest point. The high hollow grind and sweeping edge profile give it amazing edge geometry and the matching hollow ground swedge reduces weight, ensures an acute point, and makes for easy and effective stabbing. The stout Titanium handle houses a Reeve Integral Lock mechanism and is accented by three circular carbon fiber inlays on the face scale. A sturdy pocket clip offers convenient right hand, tip-up carry and the design double as an overtravel mechanism for the lock. Quite a beefy little design, you are not giving up anything on cutting power and durability when you pick up a Burch Chubby.

fit and finish missing the mark
this is the worst production knife I have from Taiwan. It is not to say it is terrible, but just that the fit/finish does justify the cost. The blade looks really cool, but the grind is uneven. The tip is very thin which I was not expecting, and the opening is very stiff. I have some qualms about the handle. It is not rounded like I have come to expect. So there are sharp edges on the handle and spine of the blade. the plastic spacer in the spine of the handle also sticks up so when you run your hand along it, you can feel it scraping your finger. all in all, it is a nice knife, but for the money, not worth it. I am unsure why those gaps in fit and finish exist. I could have a lemon or they could all be this way. If so, maybe this is too much of a challenge to produce to the standards I am used to. Or most of the money is going to the designer and not enough for production.
