Description
SP41PBN: C41PBN Native Lightweight
Spyderco

The Spyderco Native is one of their most popular models. It is a medium size pocketknife with great action and really light weight. We now offer this model with super steel from Carpenter Steel Company. The brown handle is really attractive as well. This model has it all- one of Spyderco's best models, super steel and, a great price.

Spyderco frequently manufactures "Exclusive Runs" for their dealers upon request. An exclusionary batch of knives is purchased in its entirety by the requesting dealer and then distributed solely through their own resale channels.

Released in November 2013, is a C41PBN Native Lightweight with a brown FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) handle manufactured exclusively for KnifeCenter. An internet resource for cutlery, shaving, and security products, KnifeCenter opened in 1995 and is was the first internet retailer to offer Spyderco products for sale via the world wide web.

The KnifeCenter Brown Native Lightweight manufactured in Golden, Colorado. Its spear-point blade is made of CTS-XHP steel; produced using powdered-metallurgy technology by Carpenter Steel Inc. Carpenter powdered steels offer an elevated amount of carbon that appreciably improves edge retention and strength. Native blades are bisected by two clear-cut grinds: A performance boosting hollow-grind and a weight-reducing swedge grind, giving the blade a unique appearance.

Incorporated into the brown fiberglass reinforced nylon handle is a pattern called Bi-Directional Texturing, comprised of a succession of graduating steps radiating outward from the handle's center. The steps grip the palm to generate friction and resistance, and enhances the folder's slip-resistance even in a cold or wet gripped hand. Mid-positioned on the handle's spine is a back lock for ambidextrous one-handed opening/closing and it features the added safety of a David Boye Dent on the lock release, keeping the blade from unintentionally unlocking while being used. The handle comes equipped with a silver steel clip which positions the folder ambidextrously with the blade tip facing upward when clipped inside a pant's pocket.

Spyderco's Native Lightweight is a winner in Spyderco's USA-made product line and remains one of the best selling lightweight CLIPITS.

Pros: Pocket Clip, Blade Sharpness, Weight, Blade Material
Cons: None
The Native FRN that I received was in excellent condition. The knife was light weight and exceptionally sharp. I was expecting to EDC the knife on a daily basis. However, I believe the knife I received had a defect. The blade appeared to close too much, causing the middle portion of the blade to hit the back-lock mechanism. After two days of showing off the knife without any blade use, I noticed that closing the knife caused a dull spot on the blade which lined up with a ridge in the back-lock mechanism. From my experience, I believe the problem to be limited to that one particular knife. Knife Center was extremely helpful and prompt during the return process. While I am bummed out about my Native, I will be buying another Spyderco.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Lock Type, Handle Material, Overall Quality, Pocket Clip, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Material
Cons: None
At least as good as the original.
I use this as my current EDC at work. The Native Lightweight series are great non threatening EDC blades. It feels identical to my old S30V Native, but the brown scales give it a more casual look. The CTS-XHP blade performs at least as well as the S30V version, but I can't really elaborate, I haven't had to sharpen it in the 4 weeks I've carried it. I work in the paper industry so it's certainly been put through it's paces.

Pros: Blade Material, Blade Sharpness, Handle Feel, Weight, Ease of Opening, None
Cons: Lock Type
Great EDC
This is a Great EDC in my opinion. It. is lightweight, has a good steel and the most important thing: the handling is Great. This knife is quite small in the pocket, but grabbing it is wonderful, even with monster-hands like mine. I ordered this Special Steel/Color combination behause I am collecting, i also own the original Standard colorway (black).
