SP41TIFP: C41TIFP Native 5 Titanium Fluted
The Native has long been a standard in the Spyderco product line. Originally released in 1997, it blazed a trail as an affordable, extremely ergonomic, lightweight folder. Over the years, it has also evolved to yield several generations of the design, ultimately culminating in the Native 5.

The pinnacle of the Native 5's evolution and perhaps the most dramatic expression of the design is the Fluted Titanium Native 5. Precision machined from solid 6AL 4V titanium, its handle scales feature a stunning CNC-machined sunburst-pattern texture. They are mated to a spear point blade made from premium CPM S35VN stainless steel by a highly refined back lock mechanism that was the product of extensive research and development. The blade’s full-flat grind, distal taper, understated swedge, and forefinger choil complement the dramatic style of the handle, while providing exceptional control and cutting performance.

Proudly manufactured in our factory in Golden, Colorado, the Native 5 is assembled with flat-head Torx® screws that allow the use of a four-position hourglass clip. This enables the user to configure the knife for tip-up or tip-down carry on both the left and right sides of the body and makes the Native 5's operation completely ambidextrous.

This exquisitely crafted knife combines the enhanced function of the Native 5 design with stylish collector-quality pride of ownership. The winner of the coveted American-Made Knife of the Year award at the 2011 Blade Show, it is a shining example of Spyderco’s commitment to knifemaking excellence.

Beautiful, but with some Ergonomic Design Flaws
I'm a longtime buyer of Spyderco products, and I was looking for an alternative EDC besides my Delica 4 (which I love whole-heartedly). So I though I would give the Native a try. First off, I would like to say that the Native is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship with a quality blade - probably one of the prettiest folders I own. With that said, I think there are a few design flaws in the handle when compared to traditional Sypderco knives such as the Delica or the Police model. The first is the angle of the grooves on the fluted steel handle: you have to be careful about how you grip this knife because when you move your thumb, the groove angles will push it toward the blade. The second flaw (although this is probably more of a personal preference than an actual design flaw) is that the handle obscures part of hole in the blade used for opening. Now if you open the knife as shown in the quickflick video, this shouldn't be a problem for you. But if you're like me (and like to open your Spyderco's by gripping that hole in the blade and flicking downward with your wrist), opening the Native is rather awkward compared to opening a Delica (as the hole on the Delica is fully exposed and allows for an easier grip). Overall, the Native is high-quality, beautiful knife, but I'm not entirely sure it's worth the $300+ given my personal preferences. This was not the EDC I was looking for, so I'll probably stick with my Delica for that.

A real beauty
Obtaining this knife was a present for myself! I will use it on special days only. The Titanium handle is very attractive and all further criteria which are important for a compact pocket knife are also fulfilled by this knife. It is just perfect. The blade has the right size for most common daily tasks, the ergonomics & design were improved continiously over the years (now 5th generation of Native series). My conclusion: Take it, as long as available...

Phenomenal knife!
So I bought this knife to replace a heavily used SS Delica 4 and over the past month of owning it and carrying it, I have all but forgotten how much I loved that Delica. I was looking for a sort of "legacy knife" that I could carry for many years and then pass down to my son so I wanted something with a little flair. The titanium slab handles with the sunburst pattern on this knife are truly a work of art. Not only are they very aesthetically pleasing, they also provide an adequate gripping surface for an EDC knife. The blade came RAZOR sharp out of the box and it carves and whittles away at some of my local hardwoods like a dream. Both the thumb and finger jimping are extremely welcome and placed properly without being too aggressive for bare hands. In closing, I just want to say that this is THE pocket knife for me and I will likely be purchasing a few more to keep in the box as backups or possibly future gifts because honestly, I don't see wearing this thing out because it is built like a tank, yet is nimble like a race car. Cheers!
