SPBY20GPS: Byrd Wings - Plain and Serrated Edges

Ask someone what comes to mind when they think of a multi-bladed pocketknife. There’s a likely chance the first thing that pops into their head is a traditional small bone-handled pocketknife like their grandfather used to carry. Those original multi-bladed pocket folders were handy for cutting packages or cardboard and floated deep in grandfather’s pocket clinking against his keys and loose change.

The byrd BY20 Wings is a multi-bladed pocketknife and that is where any similarity ends. It’s a medium sized folder offering the best of both worlds with two full-sized blades made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel. The Sheepfoot-shaped blade is hollow-ground with 3- 3/8 inches (86mm) of serrated cutting edge. The Sheepfoot’s rounded tip has no point, suiting it well for puncture-free cutting. The second blade is a clip-point shape, also hollow-ground with 3-3/8 inches (86mm) of plain edge cutting surface for intricate and precise cutting. Combined together the blades pack over 6 inches of cutting power in a 5.4 ounce (152g) pocketknife. Each blade locks open independently with its own side-by-side LinerLock that is jimped (textured) along the locking lever for slip resistant lock engagement and disengagement.

G-10 laminate handle stays grippy in the hand and its’ pocket clip carries 4-ways: tip-up/tip-down and left- or right-handed. The clip’s end is rounded, lessening wear and tear on a pocket. Includes a nylon belt-carry sheath with snap closure.

Pros: Blade Material, Pocket Clip, Blade Sharpness, None
Cons: Overall Quality, Handle Feel, Sheath, Lock Ease of Use, Ease of Opening
OK knife.
Rough opening, liner locks just catch the blade, chunky. Finish is OK, edges of the blade tops are too sharp. OK at the $24 sale price, typical Chinese-made-for- name-brand quality, not up to Spyderco standards.

Great looking knife with multi use and functionality
Carry it in my "work around the yard vest" to pull out as the need arises. Last weekend, it was to cut up the boxes for my outdoor fireplace and cut off the end of the hose, this weekend it will probably be used to cut rope and trimming some small branches in the yard. I do not like the case that was provided as it will not snap shut with the knife in it but who really uses the case anyway! Love Spyderco knives

Not worth the money
These knives may be imported by Syderco, but they are not Syderco quality. The knife had a cheap feel and the blades were not quality. Stay away from these knives unless you want a cheap knockoff.
