Smith and Wesson brand knives have so many models - but they are cleverly designed, well made and really economical. These Out-the-Front openers are super fast and well made. They have a safety on the side and the mechanism takes a little getting used to, but they are truly awesome and impressive.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Lock Type, Handle Material, Overall Quality, Pocket Clip, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Material
Cons: None
Great Assisted... or should I say auto...
I love this knife, great blade, great action, and great price for an otf... but heres the catch. After I opened the knife a few times the screw fell out, as previously mentioned, so I put some lock-tight on and it was great for another fifty opens or so. Then the weird, and cool thing happened, the action loosened up enough where I could deploy using a flick of my wrist. A day later, I could deploy the knife by just shutting of the safety. Works great as an auto, been like this for weeks and it's still good, being a non military or police person, It is pretty awesome to have an automatic knife. BUT BE WARNED, IT IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL(after it breaks in), I would be carefull where I brought this knife if I where you.

knife missing part
The 2nd saftey was missing - the knife still worked I liked it but had a hard time getting any response about the missing part. This unfortunatly caused me to dislike the knife and I admit it was the suppliers faultfor 1. not checking before shipping - not responding when I complained- not substituting for the knife I wanted to exchange for(*$2 less). The weight was high 3.6 ounces and it felt bulky in my pocket. The lockup was good and the blade was sharp.

editor's note: Knifecenter always offers free returns for products shipped that arrive defective.

Pros: None
Cons: Lock Ease of Use, Lock Type
safety of the safety
the only problem i have with this knife is if you clip it in your pocket with the knife inside your pocket you have to check the safety to make sure its locked...its upside down....but it has a great blade and smooth and fast action
