White River Knives
The BackPacker is an extremely versatile, tough (S30V) and light weight knife. A 'cross over' knife, it is well suited for hiking, hunting, tactical and more. The handle is wrapped in paracord for lightweight comfort and grip. Popularized by U.S. troops, paracord is strong, durable and mildew resistant which makes it an excellent choice for a knife handle. Comes standard with black paracord handle but several colors are available at no extra charge. Comes with a custom molded Kydex sheath for up, down or sideways carry.

Kydex is an extremely durable material that stands up to the toughest use without gouging or scratching. It's easy to clean up without damaging the surface or compromising the sheath. The Backpacker sheath design allows you to wear it on a belt in two ways, with the knife handle pointed up or parallel to your belt. It can be fixed for both a right and left hand grab. You can also string cord through the sheath and hang the knife from your neck without worrying the knife will slip out.

Instant Fav
I think the White River Backpacker design is ideal. The deep index finger cutout provides ultimate control of the edge and tip, and keeps your fingers off the blade as well. The handle shape fits perfectly in the palm of the hand. The lateral slot enables a very slim and tactile cord wrapped handle. 1/8" stock provides a sturdy yet slim and efficient cutting tool. The first time I held it in my hand, I felt like it was the most perfect small utility knife I'd ever owned. I rate it an equal or better design than my previous favorites, the Fred Perrin La Griffe and Street Bowie. I vastly prefer it to the Izula, better steel for typical utility use, and a better primary grind with a thinner and more efficient cutting edge. This knife will be a regular companion of mine around the house and on the trail while hiking. Pros: excellent design and blade grind, great handle concept for a neck knife, thin and tactile, good steel, nice production quality and finish. Nice belt loop design on the sheath allows for multiple carry positions. Cons: Thumb jimping on spine will probably cause more grief than it prevents. It was a little hard to re-insert knife into the sheath.

Pros: Blade Material, Overall Quality, Finish
Cons: Sheath/Scabbard, None
For the weight conscious backpackers out there, this is a great neck-knife sized fixed blade. Mine weighs 72grams wrapped, 130 grams including sheath. Blade seems very very solid, and I personally like that it is a bit thinner than for example the Esee Izula, while still being rock solid with the S30V steel. The size is great, blade itself just a bit bigger than a Spyderco Delica, but smaller than a Swiss Army OHT, with a good grip that makes it feel bigger than it is. I was a bit hesitant about a cord wrapped grip, but have to say it feels really good and solid in the hand. Better than any other knife I own. Sharp out of the box (although my Spyderco Delica is slightly sharper still) it shaves the hair of your arm without a problem. My only gripe is for me the sheath is a tad big, wish it would be a bit smaller, lighter and thinner, and I worry about dulling the blade when going in and out of the sheath. Perhaps I should loosen it up ever so slightly. All in all an incredibly beautiful knife, with solid craftsmanship - truly a pleasure to hold and behold.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Overall Quality, Weight, Blade Material
Cons: Sheath/Scabbard, None
It is a great little knife. The excelent chiol keeps your finger away from the blade and the jimping on the spine gives good control. The handle is comfortable. It is one of the best neck knives ever. I go between this and the Scrapivore. The sheath is great once I heated up its mouth and made it easier to take out the knife. It was set to release so hard that I broke the bead chain I was wearing it on. My neck healed up ok. ;)
