Pros: Finish, Blade Sharpness, Sheath/Scabbard, Overall Quality, Materials
Great bayonet, pretty good knife...
This bayonet is manufactured from some of the best materials available. I'm not a fan of stainless steel in most cases but the thickness of the blade should lessen or negate most of the issues associated with stainless steel. That said, I still believe that CPM 3V would have been the best choice. And I think the blade should be coated. The design is top notch and the overall construction is stout and well designed. It should be remembered that this is a bayonet, not a knife. While it will certainly fill a knifes roll in a pinch it wouldn't be my "go to" knife in most cases. When I was in the Corps we carried our issued bayonets & a knife, usually the classic Ka-Bar USMC Fighting Knife. Of course we were never issued bayonets of such high quality either. I've read complaints about the weight. I've read that it will "throw off the balance" of the rifle. Of course it will. Any fixed bayonet is going to effect balance. That's why we were trained to never fix the bayonet until absolutely necessary. I can tell you now, if you find yourself in a "fixed bayonet" situation the enemy is so close that balance won't present much of an issue when firing your rifle. Why would you fix bayonet for a 500 yard shot? Adding ANY equipment to your weapon is going to effect balance. Adding a tactical light or laser will change the balance and will require some adjustment to the way you fire the weapon. Even the addition of a scope will effect the balance of your rifle. To sum it up, if I were in the field and had to rely on just one blade then I certainly wouldn't feel ill equipped with this bayonet at my side. It's strong, effective, and low maintenance. As long as I remember that it's primary purpose is as a weapon it should never let me down. The only things I would change, and these are far from being deal breakers, would be to change the blade steel to CPM 3V and give it optional OD, FDE, & desert tan DLC or Cerakote finishes
