TOPS Knives
The Frog Market Special is made of 1095 High Carbon Steel, and has Tan Canvas Micarta scales. It has the Black River Wash finish that is quickly becoming one of the most popular finishes that TOPS offers. The wide heel allows for deep, shearing cuts. The steep curve up to the edge slices well. As you use the knife, you'll notice it has an ergonomic handle that is very comfortable. The thinner steel allows for clean, smooth cuts and gives the blade some added flexibility over thicker knives. The tip is also ideal for boning meats like chicken and pork. Although the Frog Market Special is great in the kitchen, you'll find a myriad of uses for it while camping, fishing, and hunting as well.

Steven Dick, who is an editor with Tactical Knives, refined this design based on what he saw on a trip to Hanoi, Vietnam. He saw butchers and fish mongers using knives with a pattern that he’d never seen before. They were able to prepare meats and fish of many varieties easily using their unique blades. But rest assured, although the inspiration for the Frog Market Special comes from the markets in Vietnam, the knives are still manufactured and hand-finished right here in the Rocky Mountains USA.

1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.
Kydex Sheath
Kydex Sheath
Waterproof, scratch resistant, and low friction. It will hold its shape and makes a great alternative to leather.
Micarta Handles
Micarta Handles
Micarta is a compressed layered composite sealed within a thermosetting plastic which creates a strong, attractive material that is impervious to water.

TOPS Did it again
TOPS venture into a kitchen/camp knife is a winner. The knife is so light, yet has the typical TOPS quality and strength. Sharp is an understatement for this blade. You can slice and dice tomatoes paper thin, meat is a breeze, and all kinds of vegetables and fruit just melt through this knife. Extremely impressive as most TOPS blades. The geometry is superb for meal preparation, the handle extremely comfortable, and the overall quality is what I have come to expect from TOPS. Best of all it proves that knives made in the USA are still the best!

gift for my dad
I bought this as a gift for my dad. He has a vacation house that completely lacks a proper kitchen knife. There is no knife block, and limited space. This knife with it's all around utility and sheath was a perfect fit. I have not had the chance to use it yet, but my dad absolutely loves it. Because it's carbon steel I've advised him to keep it oiled, so it's not maintenance free, but it'll be a great all-rounder for food prep tasks at his vacation home.
