This is what a silicone oxide stone should be.
Been sharpening knives with bench stones for 15 years. The first step when working with a worn out knife is to have a stone that can cut fast. This is definitely one of the best silicone oxide stone I've used. Other brands I've used does not grab consistently and slip, leaving ugly scratches on the side of the blade. This stone, however, grabs like dry sand paper and gives an even, consistent edge.

This is exactly what a silicon carbide stone is supposed to be
This is exactly what a silicon carbide stone is supposed to be. Cuts almost as fast as diamond at a fraction of the cost. The fine side is too rough for finishing, but that's not what this stone is for. If you want to rapidly repair a damaged edge or change a factory angle, this is a good choice.
