Leather Sheath
Leather Sheath
Leather is known for its durability and traditional appeal. When compared to Kydex it is preferred for its silence when bumped against other objects, as well as blade retention.
1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.
Zytel Handles
Zytel Handles
A nylon polymer that is lightweight and extremely durable, Zytel can be shaped and textured to provide excellent grip.

Outstanding Knife
Okay, first, fantastic value. VERY solid construction and a really comfortable grip once you do a bit of work... so here are the cons, and the only cons, 1st) depending on how you look at it the recurved edge can be a con. I normally carry a diamond sharpening stone of some kind but the recurve on this blade is pronounced enough that I had to switch from a small (3"x1.5") square stone for touchups to a rod-style diamond sharpener. No big deal but I though I would mention it. 2nd) The grips, they feel like they could be a little slick when wet. Well, they aren't. I do with I had a micarta grip panel option to begin with but I was able to make a set to replace the original grips without much effort. If you don't or can't do the same there are a number of people who are willing to make them for you. A bit of googling and you are in business. Oh, and the sheath/scabbard is okay but nothing special... Really decent leather sheath... just a bit "generic". I do wish Schrade offered a kydex or thermoplastic sheath at least as an option but I'd probably find something to kvetch about no matter what they did, I'll go ahead and make my own anywhy. Great knife for the money.

...just wondering...
...used this knife many times...love it, no problems; just blue Loctite the screws...I'd really like to know where these folks rating this knife as dull and bad grinds are buying their product...obviously not from a reputable dealer...just wondering...if purchased from Knife Center you're not going to have a problem...
