Great Small Folder
I've had this knife for several months now and love almost everything about it. The ergonomics are great for the size. S90V is a great steel if you're not worried about the sharpening process but if so Benchmade is a great company because of their customer service and life sharp services. The flipping action is great and very smooth. I still have yet to need and take it apart to clean. The deep pocket clip is good except sometimes the screws are a little thick to get it to sit all the way down in the pocket. The only cons I have with the knife is that the handles are a little slick and could use more traction. I did break the tip because it's so then but that was my fault. I made it into a modified wharncliff or a reverse tanto.

Blade was chipped
I purchased a 490 Amicus through knifecenter.com, an authorized Benchmade dealer, and my knife blade came chipped. I was crestfallen. I had pre-ordered the knife and was very anxious to get my shipped notice. I love almost everything else about the blade. The "first production" and the number on the blade adds a certain warmth while handling it. The automatic release is perfect and the flipper makes it even better. The only other negative about the knife is the handle. It's a little too smooth for my taste. Some texture or design etched into the blade would provide a better grip. -- this is not a complaint though. Just a preference that I wanted to share with you. The handle is made of a smooth piece of aluminum, the only thing keeping my hand stable while grasping the knife is the pocket clip on the other side, giving my fingers a place to rest. At the end of the day, I am pleased I decided to buy my first Benchmade. The chips were a surprise because for the money I paid and the reputation of Benchmade being superior to other brands on the market.

Great gentlemen's flipper
The 490 is a great medium sized gentlemen's flipper I love the super steel and how thinly it is ground I wish they handle had more traction the anodizing it's very slick all in all a wonderful EDC knife.
