Cold Steel
During the 1800's, the British Empire was hell bent on gobbling up as much of the Indian sub-continent as they could, seizing dominion with massive fire power and the point of the bayonet.

But when the British attempted to subdue the Sikhs and other martial clans they received a very rude awakening!

Suddenly soldiers and cavalrymen alike began literally losing their heads – not to mention their arms and legs- to a fearful Indo-Persian sword called the Talwar!

With its razor sharp broad, curved blade it stopped the British cold in many battles and inflicted unheard of losses and the most ghastly wounds imaginable.

Now, almost 200 years later Cold Steel has harnessed the fearsome cutting power of one of the world's most renowned swords in a tactical folder that we believe is truly worthy of the name Talwar.

Designed by celebrated custom knifemaker Andrew Demko and Cold Steel President Lynn C Thompson, the Talwar features a flat ground, continuously curved cutting edge from choil to upswept point it offers cutting and piercing power hitherto unavailable in a folding knife.

To compliment the Talwar's razor edge and lethal point, Cold Steel developed a truly exceptional handle.

Made from American G10, its textured and contoured pistol grip handle features strategically placed finger grooves for comfort and safety, and to further protect your precious fingers from this formidable blade, Cold Steel has equipped the Talwar with the industry-leading Tri-Ad lock.

Faster on the draw than any switchblade, the Talwar comes equipped with Andrew Demko's revolutionary ambidextrous thumb plate. By draw-snagging the knife on a pocket the awesome power of the Talwar can be in your hand at the speed of lightning!

Cold Steel Talwar: Premiere fighting knife!
The Talwar is one of the finest production fighting knives ever made. It's broad, curved blade gives it superior cutting and shearing ability. I have done extensive testing with the knife on clothing and meat targets and it out cuts everything in its class. The thin profile and superior blade geometry lends itself to the perfect cutting edge. The point is also a fearsome tool. The point is exceptionally strong for the thin profile and pierces effortlessly. The handle design is perfect for multiple grip styles and is perfect for fighting with the edge and the point. The Talwar literally flies out of the pocket with the thumb plate and is easily one of Cold Steel's fastest deploying blades. It rivals or surpasses most automatic knife deployments. The Talwar is a premiere fighting knife that can 'double' as a work knife. A superior blade for the modern warrior.

Very poor grind
Hopefully this was just a dud, but my grind was very poor from factory. It starts from a sloppy plunge grind, comes to the base of the edge offset to the left and extends up to the tip. This mades for a crooked edge and awkward cutting preformance. The swedge was asymetrical as well. Lockup was great, and centering was acceptable but that grind was not ok. In hand feel is nice ask well. My experience was frustrating since I really like the design. Hope this helps.

Dang son!
This knife is freakin awesome! It is equally at home serving as a self defense tool or as an EDC blade. The handle is ridiculously ergonomic. As per usual the traction is phenomenal; I would expect no less from Cold Steel. Out of box sharpness was ok. Not razor sharp, but I intended to re profile anyway. It took a while to do this due to the most excellent XHP steel from Carpenter. The thickness behind the edge is also fantastic. I would put it somewhere between the Paramilitary 2 and the Manix 2. Great blade geometry therefore great cutting performance! The fit and finish is solid , especially for the price. All in all great value.
