SP81GPGY2: C81GPGY2 Paramilitary 2 Sprint Run
One of the most popular and in-demand folding knives ever created, the Paramilitary 2 distills the performance and reliability of the Military model into a more compact, pocket-friendly format. It also adds the advantage of Spyderco's patented Compression Lock mechanism—a high-strength lock that allows the knife to be closed one handed without placing your fingers in the path of the edge.

This Sprint Run elite version of the Paramilitary 2 supercharges its advanced design with a full-flat-ground blade crafted from Crucible's CRU-WEAR—an air-hardening tool steel that was designed as an upgrade to D2. Although it contains less carbon chromium, its increased levels of vanadium and tungsten make it significantly tougher and more wear resistant than D2.

Crucible Particle Metallurgy (CPM) CRU-WEAR further accentuates the benefits of CRU-WEAR by combining its advanced alloy composition with the benefits of the powdered metallurgy process. This process produces an extremely homogeneous steel with superior dimensional stability, grindability and toughness. CPM CRU-WEAR, in particular, offers increased toughness and chip resistance compared to its conventional ingot counterpart.

Another unique aspect of this knife is its handle, which features scales machined from gray G10. Like ordinary G10, this material is extremely durable and has a fine checkered texture for an enhanced grip.

Despite its exceptional toughness, please remember that CPM CRU-WEAR is still a tool steel—not stainless—and is therefore susceptible to corrosion if not properly maintained.

Pros: Blade Material, Handle Material, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Handle Feel, Ease of Opening, None
Solid knife solid price
The knife came hair shaving sharp out of the box. Handle is a bit uncomfortable on the hands and it's a bit stiff out of the box to open it. For the price however this is a fantastic knife.

Pros: None
Cons: Overall Quality
You owe it to yourself to get this knife.
Schrade has really been stepping up their game with the past year's new models. Almost unbelievable that the amount of quality can be put into a knife that retails for $27, and sells for about ten dollars less. I know it's coming from China, but I don't care one bit. I love my American made knives (Zero Tolerance, Kershaw, Microtech, Spyderco, Gerber, Benchmade) but I have lost knives in the field. It hurts a lot less to loose a $20 knife opposed to a $200 knife. The blackwash finish that Schrade and Kershaw have recently come out with is attractive and hides normal wear better than an all black finish. Just the blade and steel insert on the left G10 scale are blackwashed. The rest of the hardware is a black finish. The designers did just right on a certain beef I have with some of my recent purchases of brand name China made knives. I have noticed (probably due to liability issues) that recent models have both a strong ball detent, to keep blade from opening in pocket, AND a lock liner or frame lock that puts way too much sideways pressure on the blade. This prevents a smooth blade deployment, regardless of how much you might try to adjust the pivot screw. I have tried several different samples of this SCH501 and they all have a good ball detent and the liner lock has just the right amount of pressure to deploy the lock, but not impede the blade as it opens. This knife is a MUST buy. I have already ordered its "sister" model, the SCH502, with natural aluminum scales and a black zytel insert.
