Pros: Finish, Overall Quality, Handle Material, Sheath/Scabbard, None
Cons: Weight, Blade Sharpness
This knife is way too tough for how it's built. It does handle very light baton work as well. The only thing I don't like is the blade steel is very hard and it did not come sharp at all. The hardness of the steel means you need a real good sharpener and some skill to get it sharp, the steel is very hard. The edge is sharp now and I expect it will last a long time. Perfect knife to pack away as an emergency blade and you can stuff the handle with quite a bit of stuff. The ferro rod is too short and does not work very well with the knife. It does throw sparks though and can be used, it's just not the best I've used. Sheath is great, holds the knife very secure.

Excellent quality at pricepoint
I had bought the Black handled survival edge as a knife to place beside my door, so that if i had to evacuate my house in a hurry, i would have a tool ready to go. Today, i ran the survival edge through a series of field tests to see if it was worthy of being dubbed as a survival knife, and some of the contents of the test included medium-heavy batoning, vine cutting, chopping and throwing. During the chopping tests, i realised one of the major flaws of this knife was the weight; cold steel prides this knife as being 'light as a butterfly', but i think weight comes in as a disadvantage in terms of chopping; at around 3 ounces, this knife does not have the necessary heft you would want in a survival knife to chop, but on the other side of the equation, this lightness also means that you have greater mobility in the woods, so i guess its up to you to decide whether you want to sacrifice some weight for extra mobility. During batoning tests, this knife held up surprisingly well despite its hollow handle. Due to its meagre price tag, i went full steam and batoned it through quite a few 2-3'' wide branches and stems. Goodness, i was hitting so hard on the blade that i personally did not expect this knife to survive, but after 30 minutes of batoning, i did a check and found that there was absolutely no wobble in the blade itself and the edge had not chipped out, although it had become substantially duller than before, but still, that 4116 steel blade was darn useful even after i threw it into tree bark. The Sheath on the knife, i would say, is of a decent quality. Its basically a simple sheath which locks the knife in. There is slight rattle in the sheath when the knife is carried, but i can assure you that the knife will stay locked in until you want it to come out. The firesteel on the knife, I'd say, is a nice addition, and it should work in a pinch. Overall, this knife is a bargain for what it can do and a great piece to leave in the car or in a kit if needed, though this would not be the only knife i carry if i had to go into the woods or bug out.

Stronger then it looks!
Purchased this knife to attach to my pack for hiking. Blade is extremly sharp and has held its edge well.Keep my cottonball tinders in the handle and some other little things.Wouldve been good if some sort of sharpening stone or rod were attached to the sheath.Overall a good knife and would recomend
