KUV4423A1: Vanguard V4423A1 Sovereign Folding Knife, Black
Kizer Cutlery

The Vanguard V4423A1 Sovereign folder by Kizer Cutlery is an attractive everyday carry piece that we feel brings much more to the table than its price point would suggest. It features a 3.625" VG10 sheepsfoot blade with plenty of belly for slicing and a sharpening choil. The action is quick, snappy and authoritative, as with all Kizer knives, using either the dual thumbstuds or the flipper tab. The milled black G10 handle has a solid, stout feeling and is extremely ergonomic. It features a spring pocket clip, stainless steel liners and is sure to become an everyday carry favorite in no time since it's priced well below its design and quality levels.

Kizer uses high-tech wire EDM machines to cut the parts. This method is slower than laser or water jet but Kizer feels quality is worth the wait. Each component in Kizer knives is precision machined and engineered to the finest tolerances. The final fit, finish, action, and sharpness of each knife is achieved entirely by hand, employing the irreplaceable craftsmanship developed by generations of cutlery masters. Dedicated craftsman honoring the long term goal of making the best knives possible is what Kizer brings to you.

Vanguard Series

The Vanguard Series brings excellent value to high-quality designs. Since the start of Kizer Cutlery, they have focused on the high end of the knife market with their impeccable quality and premium materials. This has earned them a place in the hearts of their fans. To increase the accessibility of Kizer brand products, they took the designs of the Bladesmith and Prime Series, and while keeping the quality at the same high level, re-forged them using materials that bring extra value for the money spent. Kizer uses only materials that have stellar performance, such as VG10 for the blades and G10 or stainless steel for the handles. This way, Kizer products are available at all budget levels but still maintain that incredible quality of construction.

Tools share a common goal and purpose. That purpose is performance, reliable to the end. Kizer brings you the Vanguard Series created with the purpose of distilling the essence of the Bladesmith and Prime Series into tools that excel in being used. This may not be your only knife, but this will be the knife you carry and use every day!

Pros: Blade Material, Overall Quality, Handle Feel, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
Great work knife
I ordered this to fill 2 needs, I needed a decent EDC for work and wanted a manual flipper, and for $70 this knife delivered on both. The sheepsfoot blade is awesome for actual work use. I mainly use it for cutting plastic, cardboard or other packaging type materials but I've used it for hacking and prying ice and it has performed everything I've asked of it. The VG10 has held an edge really well even cutting through things that normally dull a blade quickly. The only draw back is the weak detent. I used it for about 2 weeks without making any adjustments to break it in and it loosened up a little too much. Quick adjustment on the pivot and and a little practice and the detent isn't really that much of an issue anymore. Overall great work knife at a great work knife price

Pros: None
Cons: Ease of Opening
Sovereign Flipper
For you to be able to open the knife with either the flipper or thumb stud you have to loosen the pivot screw enough to where there is blade play.
