UT24779GB: Big Pine Series | 3-1/4” Barlow
Utica Cutlery Company | Makers of Kutmaster Knives & Tools

Lavish, deep green, jigged bone handles set the Big Pine series apart from any other knives found today. Blades are crafted from 1095 carbon steel blades with a taper ground razor edge. Classic Utica war shield is embedded into one side of the handle on most models. Bolsters are solid nickel silver.

1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.
Bone Handles
Bone Handles
One of the most common natural materials used in knife making, bone handles are usually textured to provide grip and can be dyed almost any color.

Pros: None
Cons: Ease of Opening, Blade Sharpness
Stubbornly Dull
Frankly, the worst knife I've ever bought. The walk and talk are incredibly soft, but, far worse, the thing simply won't take a usable edge on either the main blade or the pen blade. I can get every other knife I own hair-shaving sharp, but three or four attempts on this one have proved useless. I don't know if this is due to extremely poor quality steel, a poor heat treat or both, but this is basically a knife-shaped object and not a knife. I sent an email to Utica about my dissatisfaction and got zero response.
