Kershaw Liner Lock Review by Bruce Wagner
The new Kershaw 2420ST with the black Teflon finish and bead blasted blade is a sharp item both literally and figuratively. I've used one of the "original" models with the standard finish for about a year now, and have found it to be well suited for daily use around home and shop, as well as for leisurely pursuits such as camping, backpacking and canoeing. The knife is well designed and the fit and finish bespeak quality, especially considering it's modest price. One item of interest is that the new production versions of the combo blades have less serration (by one "set" of a large and two small scallops) and more plain edge than the older ones, making it more useful for dressing game animals and fish. The plain edge version is much better suited for those tasks, but unfortunately is unavailable (yet?) in the black Teflon finish. These are also some of the quickest opening knives of the locking liner variety that I've yet to encounter. Once the "technique" is mastered the blade literally jumps out as though it had a spring. The blade of AUS8 steel is "barbershop" sharp right out of the box, has good edge retention and re-sharpens easily. I think these knives offer a whole lot of bang for the buck and recommend them highly.
