The New Schrade Tough Tool
Users' Impressions
"I researched every type of tool of this type made. I decided
on the Tough Tool for alot of reasons including ergonomics and
usefullness. Quality was the determining factor. The Tough Tool
is simply the best available. There is simply no comparison. I
am completely satisfied with it and plan to incorporate it into
my staff's complement of tools as it is that important an item.
After carrying the Tough Tool it will soon be a vital start of
the day to check that you have it strapped on."
"I noticed ... on your Schrade Tough Tool web page that you lacked
signifigant feedback from Tough Tool users in the field (understandable,
the excellent multi-tool has only been on the market for a few
months). I have searched for some time in hopes of locating the
best multi-tool on the market, and checked with numerous retailers
and product reviewers as to which was the finest. My answer--the
Schrade Tough Tool.
Used to carrying Swiss Army Knives, I found that the American-made
Tough Tool proved three times as versatile due to its rugged construction
and utiltity. A SAK is almost too delicate to rough-handle in
the field (at least in my experience), but with their Tough Tool,
Schrade almost challenges you to beat the hell out of it. I am
an avid camper, and found innumerable uses for it in the wilds
of the Missouri backcountry. Not only on outdoor excursions, but
also in my every-day occupation I cannot get through a day without
my Tough Tool. My only regret is that my extensive carrage of
this excellent piece of equipment in its sheath has left unattractive
stains on its exterior. This is a small price to pay for its all
around utility, however"
Great Shape, comfortable holding and using as a pliers. The tools
open very easily with only 4 of them locking open, but these are
the most important:
large screw driver, serrated sheepsfoot blade, large clip-point
blade with a partially very finely serrated edge, and the Phillips
head screw driver (which is very narrow sideways). One tool on
either arm protrudes above the others in a smooth, curving surface
and this is the lock-release you press slightly. The locking and
opening system work well, smoothly and comfortably. It doesn't
seem that tools can be exchanged or added in the future.
Great feature of this tool is that, if you open it up with the
jaws open and then bring the handles around to the closed position,
you can use it as a sort of vise or "better idea" pliers to hold
a nut comfortably and securely. The exterior diameter of that
nut can be up to 7/8" -pretty substantial.
We give this tool a high rating based on initial impression with
no feedback as to sturdiness and usability in the field.
Schrade is a very old and well respected American knife company
and stands behind all of their products.
