THE SWORDCENTER PRESENTS

Iberia Medieval
Claymore Scottish Single-Hand
And Targe

The Scottish "Claymore" (014-PP) has been reproduced from a 16th. century museum piece. Combining great size with graceful lines, these swords were used with devastating effects by highlanders of old. The distinctive brass drooping quillons, quatrefoils and pommel are complemented by an ebony handle. The Scottish single hand sword (030-PP) is patterned after 15th. century models originating in the West Highlands and the Isles. The wheel pommel, lobed quillons and short langet extending from the quillon block are typical of this forerunner of the Claymore. The hilt has a Macassar ebony grip with solid brass finings. The Scottish "Targe" (039-PP), used by the clansmen as a defence against both arrows and hand weapons, was light and maneuverable, ohen concealing a leh-hand held dirk. Construction is of tool ed leather covered wood with brass mounts, screw-in central spike and leather arm straps. Diameter 20".
